The Block 2024 has shifted to island time for its 20th season, and we're almost at the end of our adventure – as on Sunday, it's Auction Day!
Dubbed Block Island, this year Australia's favourite home renovation show is centred in the stunning coastal location of Phillip Island, a cruisy two-hour drive from Melbourne.

Five couples began renovating a rundown holiday park into five luxury family holiday homes – but a month in, Jesse and Paige made the difficult decision to call it quits.
Sisters Maddy and Charlotte took over House 1, and now we're so close to seeing how each team fare at Auction Day on Sunday. It's not yet known if Kylie and Brad will attend, after they left the show prior to completing their section of the Clubhouse.

When does The Block 2024 air?
The Block's Grand Finale Auction Day will air Sunday November 10 at 7:00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now – and it's fair to say anything can happen.

Who are the contestants on The Block 2024?
Five couples from across the country have renovated properties on Phillip Island in the hopes of making life changing money come Auction Day.

Meet the cast of The Block 2024
The couples on this season of The Block are:
Electrician Kristian (31) and restaurant manager Kristian (28) – newlyweds from South Australia.
Plumber Ricky (34) and IT worker Ricky (37) – best mates from Victoria.
Events account director and furniture designer Courtney (32) and landscape business development manager Courtney (29) – married couple from New South Wales.
Hairdresser and business owner Kylie (37) and electrician and plumber Kylie (32) – married parents from Queensland.
Carpenter Jesse (29) and claims specialist Jesse (27) an engaged couple from Western Australia started as The Block kicked off but the duo made the heartbreaking decision to leave at the start of Week 5.
Maddy (24) and Maddy (22) joined The Block after Jesse and Paige left. The Sydney sisters are both university graduates, oh and seasoned house flippers too! That should come in handy.

Which team has what house on The Block 2024?
This year Scott Cam and the team made a major change to The Block and it could even alter the outcome of Auction Day.
In years gone by, the all-important House Decider Challenge determined which team renovates which house and ultimately sells it at the end of the season.
But in the video below, Scott Cam announces the big change:
Usually the teams are given 48 hours and a modest budget to put their building skills on display. The winner of the challenge would go on to select which house they would transform, the second, third and so forth.
But this year Scott Cam deemed there would be no House Decider Challenge and instead the houses were assigned to the teams by a game of chance.
Scotty stood in front of five wooden penguin sculptures and called on Jesse and Paige, who were the first to step onto The Block site, to pick a sculpture at random.
"You get to pick a penguin first, on the other side of that penguin is a Colorbond colour and that colour matches the roof colour of the house that you are going to renovate for the next 12 weeks," the host explained.
"Basically, you pick a penguin you pick a house."
Engaged couple Jesse and Paige nervously picked a penguin and the rest of the teams followed suit. Once it was all over, here's who was left with renovating each house:
House 1: Jesse and Paige – after they left, newbies Maddy and Charlotte inherited their partly renovated house.
House 2: Courtney and Grant
House 3: Ricky and Haydn
House 4: Kylie and Brad
House 5: Kristian and Mimi – the Adelaide couple managed to snap up the only double-storey home this year. Would it be a help or a hindrance? We'll soon find out.
What changes came to The Block 2024?
Aside from a waterfront location, there were some other big changes this year.

Keith Schleiger stepped down from his longtime role as Foreman as he was unable to move to Phillip Island full-time, so Dan Reilly took on the role as sole Foreman.
Veteran judge Neale Whitaker also handed the baton on to real estate director Marty Fox. Marty joined Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer to judge the spectacular rooms with the brief of creating a perfect holiday home.

What stars returned to The Block 2024?
The 20th season of The Block was also celebrated with a number of fan favourites returning to the show to lend a helping hand for the monster build.
A select group of the All Stars helped this year's Blockheads to create something never seen on the Block before.
The returning Allstar Blockheads included:
Steph and Gian (2023), Eliza and Liberty (2023), Jimmy and Tam (2020), Alisa and Lysandra (2013, 2014), Ronnie and Georgia (2020, 2021), Michael and Carlene (2014), Kyal and Kara (2014), Tom and Sarah-Jane (2022), Omar and Oz (2022), Dale and Sophie (2012) and Andy and Deb (2019).
Where is The Block 2024 located?
It was confirmed in October 2023 that the home of The Block in 2023 would be on Phillip Island.
Just two hours from Melbourne and connected to the mainland via a bridge, Phillip Island offers residents the best of both worlds and is perfect for anyone hunting for a life in paradise.

It may be an Island, but there's a lot to keep residents busy. Local shops and great cafes, walking trails, a winery, golf range and stunning parks and reserves makes this a truly spectacular place to live.
Phillip Island is already a holiday hotspot for Melbournians, and has become a household name across Australia thanks to its spectacular coastal scenery, unique wildlife, family-fun activities and thick bushland.
The area is home to one of the largest Little Penguin colonies in the world, with one of the most popular tourist attractions being the Nature Park's Penguin Parade.
There's also the opportunity to spot fur seals up-close, hand-feed kangaroos and watch whales migrating past in the winter.
The area is home to the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, which has become a must-visit for both auto-enthusiasts and general visitors thanks to its rich history and exhilarating events throughout the year.

It was also the location for an unforgettable reward during the 2023 season of The Block, with the contestants arriving via helicopter.
What is the real estate market like on Phillip Island?
Phillip Island has recently experienced a boom in house sales, as it offers a unique location for those seeking a holiday escape, others searching for an idyllic retirement location and families chasing a better lifestyle.
The average house price had a consistent rise over the past few years, with things levelling out in 2023. It's proven to be a more affordable option than the city, Mornington or Bellarine Peninsulas – making it the perfect place for a soul-enriching sea-change.
And despite its reputation for being extremely alluring for retirees, the most recent Australian Census shows the median age of its residents is 52, with 85.5 per cent of its residents currently working either full or part-time.

The average weekly rent is $330, and mortgage payments are $1517. The most common type of household is a family (65.2%), and those families are typically couples without children (53%), followed by couples with children (31.4%).
The most popular type of home is a stand-alone house, and a huge percentage of houses are owned by people outright, or they're paying off a mortgage (a total of 73.4%).

The team that makes the most profit above reserve on auction day will take home an extra $100,000 prize money.
All teams will keep any money they make above reserve price on the sale of their house.

After Jesse and Paige left The Block, "savvy sister" renovators Maddy and Charlotte have taken over and plan to bring their own unique style to House 1.

Their pride and joy is their home in the western Sydney suburb of Denham Court, which they built and styled. Although not having a lot of renovating experience, they are not complete beginners.
They think their work lives, which include design and landscaping backgrounds, will really help them on The Block when it comes to experience.

Best mates Haydn and Ricky had a mammoth first week, when Haydn's child was born early – leaving his best pal to continue renovations alone.
But all the hard work paid off, and they created a "modern coastal luxury" space they could be proud of – and we can't wait to see more.

Husband-and-wife Kylie and Brad have a unique style in their home, opting for a dark and mysterious vibe which they've continued throughout their home so far.
The final product is described as a "glamorous family escape".

The coastal home has been praised by the judges, bagging them consecutive wins for the guest bathroom and guest bedroom.

Who won The Block in 2023?
In a history-making grand finale, Sydney-siders Steph and Gian won The Block 2023 with the largest profits ever across the show's 19 seasons.
Their house sold for $5,000,000 to none other than billionaire bidder Adrian Portelli – a whopping $1,650,000 over the property's reserve price of $3.35 million.
Earning more than $1.6 million plus $100,000 in prize money for winning the season, Steph and Gian surpassed Omar and Oz's record profit from 2022.
That meant the childhood sweethearts walked away with a total of $1,750,000.
Who won The Block in 2022?
Last year, House 5's Omar and Oz made a history-making profit of $1,586,666.66 when they sold their Macedon Ranges home at auction.

The reason for the huge number? A bidding war erupted between regular Block home buyer Danny Wallis and first-time bidder Adrian Portelli.
Their offers pushed House 5 well above the reserve of $4.08 to a sale of $5,666,666.66.
Even though that profit is massive, Omar and Oz split it and their $100,000 prize money between them, walking away with around $800,000 each.
