Gym junkies Chantel, 32, and Wyatt, 30, started The Block with plenty of prior building experience (at least, in Chantel’s case) and major competitive streak.
With a Certificate 1V in Building and Construction, Chantel assisted in the construction of more than 100 homes before filming started and Wyatt, despite being a novice, was ready to take charge on site to bring home the win.
Chantel and Wyatt share a home with her three young children. Nine
But the couple almost quit after very first Room Reveal Sunday, when they were called out for spending $20,000 – the most money of any team in the first week.
The only problem? Chantel and Wyatt hadn’t spent anywhere near that amount.
“We knew exactly how much we had spent, and going into the show we prided ourselves on our budgeting ability, and we were made to look silly,” Wyatt told nine.com.au.
The couple were “hell-bent” on leaving The Block over what they initially assumed was a deliberate stitch-up made for reality TV drama, but agreed to stay after Scott Cam and executive producer Julian Cress apologised for the blunder.
The couple immediately knew something had gone wrong. Nine
“We are extremely sorry for what’s happened. It 1000 per cent was not deliberate,” Scotty said. It turns out the couple’s builder’s bill had been counted twice... oops.
After that mess, nothing was going to stop them from chasing victory – not even the fact that are the first-ever Block duo who didn’t win a single room reveal.
House 2 still has a lot to offer though, so scroll through to see Chantel and Wyatt’s stunning home in full.
House 2’s Guest Bedroom | Week 1
The couple were aiming for an “old luxury” feel and thought they’d gotten it spot on. Nine
Chantel and Wyatt went into the first week feeling pretty confident, claiming they’d “absolutely done enough” to take home the win for their Guest Bedrooms.
Unfortunately, the judges didn’t feel the same.
“Overall, the judges felt the room simply isn’t hitting the brief,” Scotty told the couple.
All three judges had a major bone to pick with the period detailing of the wall panelling, saying it would have suited the suburb “35 years ago,” but not today.
“I feel deeply distressed by this,” Domain’s Alice Stolz said of this bedroom. Nine
“It makes me feel as though they haven’t thought about the buyer that they’re hoping to attract here,” guest judge Domain’s Alice Stolz said.
Marty Fox said he liked how big the styling of the room made it feel, but that was the only positive he could find.

House 2’s Family Bathroom | Week 2
There was a big problem with the double door situation in the top right corner. Nine
It was a rough week for Chantel and Wyatt after production accidentally doubled their spend for last week, but they tried to put their best foot forward with the Family Bathroom.
To the untrained eye, the room looked quite lovely, but the judges noticed a few issues hidden in plain sight.
The first, and biggest, was that you couldn’t open the bathroom door and the second door to the toilet at the same time.
Chantel and Wyatt’s Family Bathroom just wasn’t quite there. Nine
Shaynna Blaze loved some of the smaller details, like the basins and wall lights, but the bathtub placement and overall finishes let the couple down.
“You just need to do a little more research. Because you are definitely heading in the right direction,” Scotty told the couple.

House 2’s Main Bedroom and Walk-In Robe | Week 3
“This is very light, white and bright,” Darren said as soon as the judges walked through the doors to see the couple’s walk-in robe. Nine
Dental issues and regular Block chaos left Chantel and Wyatt on struggle street in Week 3, but they pulled it together and delivered the judges an almost entirely completed room.
Marty was quick to point out that the wardrobe featured “absolutely zero styling” because the couple ran out of time.
Storage space galore, but zero styling? That’s not a winning combo. Nine
The judges were impressed with the amount of storage, but were let down by the lack of attention to detail.
But the Main Bedroom was another story altogether: the judges loved it.
Shaynna thought the room was “perfection for the brief”. Nine
“The bed, the bedhead, the cushioning, that long cushion, the simplicity of it, yes yes yes, yes yes yes,” Darren Palmer exclaimed, and Shaynna thought the room was “perfection for the brief”.
While it may not have started out perfectly, week three was a major improvement for Chantel and Wyatt.

House 2’s Main Ensuite | Week 4
Darren’s first words when he walked into the pairs’ bathroom were “it’s nice and bright.” Nine
Chantel and Wyatt went all in on the quiet luxury brief for Main Ensuite week, hoping to pull off their first win.
Sadly, it didn’t happen but the judges’ feedback was pretty positive.
The judges loved the large shower, the stying on the vanity and attention to little details like light fixtures, but they were not happy that there was no cabinet behind the vanity mirror.
Marty was amazed at the “military precision” execution. Nine
Shaynna also would have liked to have seen more personality in the room, saying “It’s really predictable. It’s verging on boring.”
Despite the mixed feedback, Marty said the ensuite is absolutely marketable from a real estate perspective.

House 2’s Living, Dining and Alfresco | Week 5
The single long table wasn’t a hit with the judges. Nine
Chantel and Wyatt had big hopes for their high-end Living, Dining and Alfresco space and only went slightly over their $22,500 budget, hitting a total of $23,386.16.
But upon entering the space, there were immediate questions from the judges.
Darren wondered why they didn’t make the most of the Dining space with a bench seat along the window and a bigger table upfront, while Shaynna questioned the amount of “dead space” in the Living area.
The floral centrepiece wasn’t popular with the judges either. Nine
“I thought I was bored in the ensuite last week. Here, I need a defibrillator because this is dead,” she said. Brutal.
Darren couldn’t believe the seats were facing away from the gorgeous view outside.
At the very least, this table was a big win with Shaynna. Nine
The judges weren’t immediately turned off by the Alfresco area, but it wasn’t exactly what they’d hoped and Marty said it didn’t give the agent anything to sell to the buyer.

House 2’s Guest Suite | Week 6
“This is what we loved about their main bedroom, having that beautiful soft texture,” Shaynna Blaze reacted. Nine
Chantel and Wyatt felt confident after what they called a “cruisy” week but after seeing their Guest Suite, Shaynna declared they’d “never” score a 10.
The neutral tones in the bedroom impressed the judges, as did the Freedom wardrobes, which had ample storage.
But things went downhill in their “plain” bathroom.
Marty said the “plain” room made it clear they were playing the mass-market card. Nine
“I’m never going to give them a 10 because for me, in my calculations, human connection to a space is part of my judging process, and I feel a lack of human connection in every room of theirs I’ve walked into,” Shaynna said.
Chantel and Wyatt accused Shaynna of having “a real vendetta” against them, but said they were going to stick to their minimalist vibe no matter what.

House 2’s Kitchen, Butler’s Pantry and Powder Room | Week 7
The judges immediately spotted one detail they didn’t like. Nine
Chantel and Wyatt raced against the clock to try and complete their Kitchen, Butler’s Pantry and Power Room.
Marty was immediately impressed when he walked into the Kitchen and Shaynna loved the backlit stone splashback, which she labelled “perfection”.
But the judges didn’t like that the main sink and the Butler’s Pantry sink were both visible while standing in the kitchen.
There was plenty of storage in the pantry but it lacked functionality. Nine
There were functionality issues in the Butler’s Pantry and though Marty said the house had broad market appeal, he feared it could come across as boring.

House 2’s Rumpus and Laundry | Week 8
Marty acknowledged that the stunning curved TV wall would make for a beautiful campaign shot. Nine
Chantel and Wyatt hoped carrying the curves from their Living Room into the Rumpus downstairs would help win the judges over in week 8.
Instead, Marty immediately called the duo out for choosing not to put a door on the entrance to separate the space from the rest of the house.
“You really do need that door though because if you’ve got kids downstairs,” Marty said, though Shaynna and Darren argued “zero kids” would use such a beige room.
The mood lighting, handles and floor tiles scored big ticks and a big “yum” from Darren. Nine
The judges praised the curtains, the TV unit, the “elegant” sofa choice and rug but said the room lacked amenities like a kitchenette.
As beautiful as they found the Laundry, it couldn’t make up for the lacklustre Rumpus.

House 2’s Kids Bedroom and Redo Room | Week 9
Shaynna wasn’t happy with the room or its styling. Nine
Chantel and Wyatt hoped to set their Kids Room apart by designing it for a slightly older child. Unfortunately, it backfired.
The judges felt the couple had totally missed the brief and Shaynna wondered if there was an “allergy to children” going around.
“Everything is just so forgettable,” Marty said of the room, while Shaynna described the styling as “a bit lazy”.
The judges said it appears that Chantel and Wyatt have “no strategy” when it comes to playing the game. Nine
The judges walked away hoping that the couple had instead poured their efforts into redoing their living and dining space from week 5, but they were let down.
Their one piece of advice to flip the room around had been completely ignored, leaving Shaynna to moan, “these guys are so stubborn”.

House 2’s Outdoor Terrace and Pool | Week 10
The first thing judged Darren, Shaynna and Marty noticed was the textural stone work on the covered dining area. Nine
Chantel and Wyatt’s Outdoor Terrace and Pool was a huge undertaking as they extended the deck to create a giant pool area.
The result was a luxurious space that had the judges singing the couple’s praises... at least, at first.
They loved the textural stone work on the covered dining area, which included the kitchenette that was missing from their rumpus room.

But Shaynna wasn’t sold on the plant choices on the deck, the “mean, stingy bench seat” by the pool, and the flamingo floatie in the water.
“Sell it as the party house! If you’re going to have a blow up flamingo, put your glasses out there,” she said.

House 2’s Backyard and Garage | Week 11
The judges said the yard got the job done. Nine
Though they were strapped for cash in Week 11, Chantel and Wyatt still managed to deliver a Block-worthy Backyard.
Though the lawn was simple, it got the job done and the judges were very impressed with the couple’s side courtyard.
The side courtyard was much more impressive. Nine
“This is incredible. Now you see where the money has gone,” Shayna said, and all four judges loved the execution of the timber work and pizza oven.
Unfortunately, the garage was a huge let-down.
Is this a garage or an empty room? Nine
Shaynna called the room a “white box with things in it” and the judges agreed there’s a difference between “minimalism and empty-ism.”

House 2’s Front Yard and Facade | Week 12
House 2’s secret weapon? Their “4.6 million-year-old” stone bath and stunning outdoor fireplace. Would the judges see their vision? Nine
Jaws dropped as the judges turned the corner in House 2’s Front Yard and Facade, which featured a 4.5 million-year-old game changer.
It was an ancient stone bath and stunning outdoor fireplace Chantel and Wyatt hoped would impress the judges. It worked.
Darren, Shaynna and guest judge Dave Franklin marvelled at the sauna, outdoor shower and stone bath that was a water feature and bath in one.
Dave worried the plant mix “look wrong” and the magnolia will “get suffocated out by the plants around it.” Nine
Upstairs the fireplace was a hit and though the judges weren’t totally sold on some of the plant and tile choices, their final feedback was positive.
“This is the most interesting, diverse space that Chantel and Wyatt have done this season,” Darren said.
