Chantel and Wyatt had high hopes for their high-end Living, Dining and Alfresco space, but the judges might have other ideas. With a budget of $22,500, they kept quite on target and only went slightly over at $23,386.16.

Upon entering the space, there were immediate questions from the judges. Notably, Darren wondered why they chose this table instead of making the most of the space with a bench seat along the window and a bigger table upfront.

As her eyes looked towards the main lounge, she couldn’t help but question the amount of “dead space” in the room.

“The amount of dead space in this area is really dead, it leaves me totally cold,” she said. “I thought I was bored in the ensuite last week. Here, I need a defibrillator because this is dead.”

The scale and proportion in here is “all wrong,” said the judges. Darren couldn’t believe the seats were facing away from the gorgeous view outside.

Shaynna was more fuming at the fact carnations were used as a centrepiece. “Who in their right mind would put carnations in there?” she said. “Carnations are so far from sophistication; they’re buttonhole flowers. This is the most boring execution I have ever seen of a multi-million dollar house to try and sell a dream.”

Darren said the room would have looked much better if the TV was on the other side of the wall, a decision Chantel and Wyatt were grappling with all week.
