In pictures: Kristian and Mimi's completed house
Kristian and Mimi have had a massive journey on The Block.
For a start House 5 was totally unique, being the only two-story home on the Phillip Island lot which they believe could work to their advantage come Auction Day.

The couple won a huge amount of Room Reveals, impressing the judges week by week with their unique styling and ideas.
Not only that, but they won the final Clubhouse reveal... meaning they'll get $50k off their reserve at Auction.
Mimi became emotional after finishing their final room, saying: "Never in our wildest dreams did we think we could do this, with zero experience.
"We did it, and we had fun while we did it. I think that's something I'll never regret."

The first week saw our Blockheads tackle a guest bathroom.
The CommBank smart board recommended a $20k budget for the guest bathroom, and Kristian and Mimi spent $21,732 on their space – the least of any team this week!
When they walked in, the judges were immediately struck by how much space Kristian and Mimi's huge bathroom had.
Marty said it made so much sense: "This truly is a proper family bathroom where we won't feel like we're on top of each other."
Darren was very impressed by the materials and thought the tile on the floor and walls was "gorgeous".

"I really love that you've got that slight blue in there that ties in here with this tile," Darren said, pointing to their feature blue subway tiled wall.
Shaynna thought the room perfectly captured the "essence" of Phillip Island.
The judges were shocked at how well Kristian and Mimi executed the room – especially considering it was only Week One!
"This doesn't feel like Week One, standing here," Shaynna beamed. "Wow!"

But fter assessing the room's layout, Darren couldn't help but wonder if there was a most effective way to use the space.
"The bigger the room gets, it gets harder to plan," he explained, adding that he felt there was too much empty floor space with "no purpose".

Marty felt that the shower space felt too small given how large the room was.
He also felt their near two-metre-long shower needed a larger "nook" and maybe even a second shower head to fill the space.

But despite some critique, it was enough to bag them their first win.
Kristian and Mimi scored 28.5, making the first win of the season!

Kristian and Mimi went into Week 2 of The Block feeling confident after an impressive win last week.
But that quickly took a knock as Kristian cutting corners came back to bite them... multiple times.
The pair had to re-do their insulation (twice) as well as the lagging of a pipe. They also faced problems with their Kinsman wardrobe because Kristian failed to forward plan for the plumbing of the upstairs bathroom.
Plus, they found themselves in real hot water when he forged Foreman Dan's signature on a demolition permit.
But in the end they created a room they were very proud of.

In total, the room cost $11,730 – just a touch under their $12,000 budget.
The key feature of Kristian and Mimi's room was the asymmetry of their bed head and wooden wall paneling and all three judges loved it.
The way the room complemented their guest bathroom was not lost on them.
"I love the fact that we've got the porta timber which connects to the bathroom," Shaynna said.

The judges believed the build quality was "excellent, again", according to Scotty.
The room impressed Marty so much he felt ready to make a huge call: "If they can continue this journey throughout, these guys are going to be extremely hard to beat."

Kristian and Mimi's Room Reveal didn't get off to a great start, with Darren needing to shoulder charge to get through the room's 'sticky' door.
Once the judges were inside, they could only find one problem: the white switches beside the bed.
"With all these details, that's the solution?" he wondered.
Marty said you should never have a switch as the feature, and because of the white against the wood, it "jumps straight out".
Scotty read Darren's critique of his clipboard: "If you're putting effort into the details, then put it into every detail," he said.
