Room Reveal: Courtney and Sev’s Living, Dining and Alfresco
This week is big, with the Blockheads working hard to pull together three rooms. Can they do it on a tight budget?
This week, Courtney and Sev took on their living room, dining and terrace area. With a super-tight budget and big dreams, the pair worried if they’d be able to pull it together on time.

Right off the bat, the judges were happy with the position of the dining room. Marty added it was the “best positioning they had seen,” that day.

The wooden table and chairs also caught their eye, with all three judges loving the styling.

Shaynna added the layout of the room is “different altogether” because they have stairs coming into the room, not a lift.

But then Marty pointed out a major issue with the room - the view. He couldn’t understand why they would give up a house with water views for the sake of the internal layout.

“I feel like I’m taking crazy pills,” Darren agreed. “I don’t understand how you can be gifted the best opportunity of any Block we’ve ever had, which is that it outlooks to ocean... and the think, ’I’m going to make everything about a television.”

Marty added that the living room felt like it had been “cut in half.” Darren added they could have moved the couch back if they just made the TV bigger.

The one thing they couldn’t fault was the styling choices. “That art is fantastic,” Darren said. “The lamp, the side tables, the chairs, the sofa, everything I see is really successful.”

Darren added that it was just the layout of the room that let it down.

Shaynna said she thought the seat next to the bookcase was a waste. “What I’m seeing here is nothing I haven’t seen before... putting two cushions there doesn’t mean you want to sit there.”
