Episode 22 recap: Foreman Dan’s shock replacement and a surprise All Star returns

Sunday’s Room Reveals were a shocker, but fear not, we’ve reached the halfway mark!
A fresh week brings two new faces to The Block this year ... New forewoman Leonie, and Block All-Star and champion chippy Spence to be Tayla’s fill-in dad while Rick is in recovery.
Howdy, Spence and Leonie! Nine
Fore-lady Leonie will be filling in for a few weeks while Foreman Dan is on paternity leave.
It’s not the only change happening, Rick is also off site due to an infected knee and has been ordered to take a few days rest.
Builder Spence and his wife Kerrie took on The Block in 2018, and with 30 years experience, the master craftsman has been working behind the scenes for with the Block builders the past few seasons.
Tayla’s hoping Spence can steer the ship this week. First stop, Domain’s Open For Inspections!
“I will never use these colours,” one contestant takes a swipe at Adam and Jolene’s winning Living, Dining and Alfresco.
There were also some strong opinions about House 1’s giant mirror. Catch them here:
It’s Guest Suite week, the first time Blockheads have to present both a bedroom and a bathroom.
Twice the rooms, means twice the stress (if you’re Lisa and Rosco and have yet to finish a bathroom this year).
Or twice the fun if you’re Tayla! She’s got a green marble vanity and bold green wallpaper planned.
“It’s a lot,” she admits. Meanwhile Spence is getting flashbacks to his wallpaper choice back in 2018. It was enough to give the judges vertigo.
Now THIS is a lot. Nine
Yes, it’s all fun and games until host Scott Cam comes over to discuss the dreaded b-word.
Scotty’s not impressed after House 5 spent $49,693.30 last week from a suggested budget of $20,000. Only slightly over.
“Pillows and two pots, $349, cash!” says Scotty as he pulls out the receipts. “You could have got them from Freedom.”
There’s an oil bottle on the list. Guess how much? $184.
I’m sorry? How much?? Nine
“Did that win you the room?” Spence sides with Scotty. Not happy Scotty.
It’s a teary farewell for House 3’s Lisa and Rosco as their two-year-old son Lando, who’s been visiting for the weekend, flies home to Perth with Ross’ parents.
“We’re doing it from him. It’s such a short part of his life, he’s not going to remember it, but it is hard,” said Lisa holding back tears.
Mum-of-three Chantel is also missing her kids, and all of a sudden, Lisa’s crying, Chantel’s crying, we’re crying!
The hard hat, we can’t deal. Nine
In another bold Tayla move, the Blockhead has broken up with her real estate agent. You know, the one who helped Britt and Taz win The Block last year.
It’s awkward as heck, as Tayla says, “That was scarier than divorcing my husband”. And nope, Rick does not know she did it.
Rick is resting up, a little differently to winners Adam and Jolene who are on their ultra-fancy winners’ getaway.
The South Australian farmers have never stayed anywhere as fancy as this in their life, and clearly missed the dress code.
They are also slightly petrified by the fancy food they’re served. There’s a first time for everything, including smoked eel and caviar. Delish!
You doing OK, Jolene? Nine
While Jolene tries not to cough up her three-hat dinner, Rick hits us with some “good news” that is both good and not so good. We will let you be the judge.
He’s officially packing up and going home until he gets better.
Tuesday night, the Guest Suites are taking shape along with some serious cheating allegations. Scandalous, we’ll see you then.
