The teams reveal the best perks and biggest hurdles of The Block 2024's Phillip Island location

EXCLUSIVE: Scott Cam and the team decided to do something special for the 20th season of The Block, taking the show to the picturesque destination of Phillip Island.

The Victorian island is just a two hour drive from Melbourne CBD and is connected to the mainland via a bridge.

Despite being a holiday destination, it's going to be anything but for our Blockheads as they embark on 12 weeks of tireless renovation work – and in our exclusive video, they reveal just what they thought about the mammoth adventure.

Initially Blockheads Courtney and Grant "loved the fact" that they were going to be building on Phillip Island.

"We're both from Sydney, but we enjoy getting out of the city and escaping the hustle and bustle and the rat race that Sydney is," Grant said.

According to the Western Sydney couple, Phillip Island has the best of both worlds.

"It's that nice relaxed slower lifestyle but it's only a stone's throw away from Melbourne, so it's that perfect in between," Grant added.

For newlyweds Kristian and Mimi, they didn't know what to expect having never been to the destination but were pleasantly surprised by its beauty, friendly locals and bounds of activities.

Of course on The Block time is a precious and it wasn't long before the Blockheads realised that the island location meant jumping through a few extra hoops for trades and homeware shopping.

"Having to travel so far, it's two hours each way. It's pretty much a full day out if you need to get something," best mates Ricky and Haydn said.

For Kristian, his biggest hurdle was "finding trades willing to travel here".

Courtney admitted the drive was "taxing" at times, especially after an all-nighter painting.

But she found a silver lining saying getting offsite was a welcome break.

Ricky summed up Phillip Island's idyllic location by saying, "Having a holiday home down here would be incredible."

Indeed it would be! Hopefully everyone thinks the same come Auction Day.
