Kylie and Brad's Block experience has ranged from the highest of highs to some major lows.

The married parents from Queensland came in with a very strong personal style: black, black and more black.

For a while, the judges struggled to see their vision. But in the middle of the competition, it all came together as House 4 scored wins in some of the most important rooms of the house, Kitchen and Living & Dining.

In the final weeks, budget constraints and personal problems took a toll and left the competition one week early, missing Clubhouse Week entirely.

Kylie and Brad knew their colour scheme (or lack thereof) was going to be a risky choice from the beginning, but the pair stuck to their guns.

"Hearing from the judges will really set the tone on where we're going to go from here. If they completely tear it apart I may have to rethink what I'm doing," Kylie admitted.

The CommBank smart board recommended a $20k budget for the guest bathroom, and Kylie and Brad spent $27,739 on their space.

The judges were immediately wowed when they entered the room.

On first impressions, all three judges were taken back by the boldness but Shaynna decided she loved it.

She wanted drama from these rooms – and Kylie and Brad certainly delivered!

Shaynna liked a lot of Kylie and Brad's choices around their vanity.

She really liked the wood paneling on the wall, which she said was a "cute little groove" that broke up the black and white well.

She also adored the herringbone pattern tiling.

She also praised the large tiles Kylie picked out.

"I'm loving the subtlety of the Dekton, which is on the walls in the shower and also on the floor," she said.

On the flip side, Marty's critique was brutal.

"The only thing I like about this room is the skylight, because when I'm looking up I don't have to see anything else in this room," he said.

He did not think such a divisive room worked from a real estate perspective.

"If I brought 10 buyers in here, maybe one or two will say 'I love it,'" he said.

Darren landed somewhere in the middle. He loved the huge skylight and the Dekton tiles.

Then came a "but".

Darren felt there were parts of the room that needed re-styling.

Unlike Shaynna, he really did not like that herringbone patterned tiles or the batons on the wall.

Overall, he felt the styling gave off a "mid-2010s nightclub vibe".

Marty worried about House 4 continuing to go down this path.

"If they continue this theme throughout the other rooms, this is going to be possibly, the biggest disaster we've seen in 20 seasons."

After the judges Week 1 comments, Kylie changed her plans for Week 2 and ditched most of the black in favourite of neutrals and blush pink.

They had $12,000 to work with, and Kylie and Brad came in just under budget with $11,115 spent.

Things got off to a positive start when the judges walked into the room.

"Ah, we have floorboards!" Shaynna said. "And a fan!"

The judges had previously critiqued the other houses for missing those features, so House 4 found themselves ahead of the pack early.

"It makes such a difference," Darren agreed.

However, Darren wasn't convinced by their styling.

"It's elevated but I feel like it's as at odds to its location as last week's room was but in a different direction."

Shaynna was on the same page. The Art Deco choices "perplexed" her.

Unlike Week 1, Marty was their biggest supporter in this room.

He said the room was "palatable" and "marketable", which appealed to buyers.

"This is a room where if you had 10 buyers walk through, you're not having that jarring effect by at least half of them like we had last week," he explained.

He commended them for taking on his "pretty harsh" feedback and toning down their style.

He felt it just needed some small "tweaks" to be a great room.

Shaynna couldn't disagree more.

She felt like Kylie, who has bright green hair, had left all the personality out of the room.

"I feel like this is a compromise and from what we saw in the bathroom, is that them or is this them? I feel like the bathroom is them," she said.

"Bring your energy, bring your sass!"

"I don't get the feeling that Kylie loves this style," Darren agreed.
