Watch: Jesse and Paige make the heartbreaking decision to leave The Block for good

Jesse and Paige made the decision to leave The Block during Monday night's episode, a choice they knew was ultimately the right one for them.

Audio from the previous Friday showed the pair in a heated discussion about whether they want to remain on the series, or return home to Perth. The argument sparked concern, and the show's executive producer intervened.

Wanting the best for them, the couple were told to speak to a health professional – which they did.

After careful consideration, they made the decision to leave.

They knew their mental health and well-being had to come first and decided to return home to get the care they need.

"When the decision was made I even just felt relieved," Paige told Kristian and Mimi. "I just haven't been myself, like at all. I've really mentally struggled."

Jesse said that while he did want to stay, he needed to "put [Paige] first".

The teams then said their goodbyes to Jesse and Paige, as did host Scott Cam.

"Nothing is more important – not The Block, not building – nothing's more important than your mental health," Scotty said to them.

"It is a big decision and a brave one that you've both made. I think we've probably all had to make that decision together and I feel as though, for people who are suffering with mental health issues, this is an inspiration for them to maybe make a decision as well.

"We feel as though you need to get to a place out of here that's where you can best take care of yourself."

Jesse and Paige's teammates were understandably emotional at the couple's departure, but were happy they were choosing what was right for themselves.

"It's definitely sad to see them say goodbye but we have a lot of respect for them to be able to do that," Haydn said.

The Block airs Sunday at 7:00pm and Monday to Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
