A look back at the lowest profits in the history of The Block auctions

Auction Day success is no guarantee – a tough lesson The Block's 2025 teams have learned all too well.
It was a mixed night as the Daylesford homes went under the hammer.
Britt and Taz in House 3 emerged victorious, being crowned 2025 champions by a large margin over Sonny and Alicia and Robby and Mat.
But unfortunately, Emma and Ben's House 1 and Han and Can's House 2 failed to sell, forcing the teams to pass them in and continue to negotiate with their agents and potential buyers in the weeks to come.

The Block 2025 Auction Day
In 2025, Britt and Taz set the bar high after going first on Auction Day.
Their house sold for $3,410,000, a whopping $420,000 over their reserve price of $2,990,000. Throw in an extra $100,000 for winning the competition and that's a total of $520,000.
Robby and Mat went second with House 5, and were considered a major favourite to win – so imagine their horror when bidding stalled at barely over $100k profit and Danny Wallis purchased their home for $3,099,000.
What's surprising to know, is that despite the triple-figure amount they earned, it's considered so far the lowest profit of the season (with Houses 1 and 2 still on the market).
Compare that to the $10,000 profits earned in previous seasons, which you can find below, that's quite the win!
Thanks to some clever strategy on a tough day, Sonny and Alicia walked away with $120k.
The winnings for Emma and Ben, and Han and Can remain to be seen, as both teams had to pass in their homes.
Emma and Ben did not expect to pass in their home. Nine
Hopefully, taking their homes back to market will net them some healthy profit.
The Block 2024 Auction Day
In 2024, The Block Auction Day broke records for all the right reasons and the youngest-ever winners Maddy and Charlotte were crowned with a $1,650,000 prize after billionaire bidder Adrian Portelli snapped up their property (and everyone else's as well).
Portelli ended up purchasing all five of the Phillip Island homes (for the price of $15.3 million) with every contestant taking a massive sum of money to their families.
Considering the lowest profit of the day was Kylie and Brad with $650,000, it certainly wasn't a bad day to be a Blockhead.
Courtney and Grant and Kristian and Mimi both walked away as freshly-minted millionaires while best mates Ricky and Haydn made $750,000.
The Block 2023 Auction Day
In 2023, auction day produced turbulent results with winners Steph and Gian and runners-up Eliza and Liberty walking away with a respective $1,750,000 and $1,050,000.
While Kyle and Leslie earned a respectable $130,000. Despite being pleased with their results, Leslie admitted the discrepancy between a million dollar profit and her own was hard to swallow.
House 3's Kristy and Brett experienced an even bigger blow, however. The couple were crushed when their home sold for a more modest profit of $65,000.

The two slammed their agent for not following their agreed plan. "Our agent s--t the bed with our game plan," Kristy stated afterwards.
She added that she and Brett were furious their agent had revealed their reserve, believing that had "cruelled" their chances of winning big, and potentially affected the rest of the day's bidding.
She and Brett said they were grateful for the profit, but added it didn't cover their wages for the time they spent building their home.
Kristy added she believed the big ticket purchases were motivated by popularity, noting Adrian Portelli's huge bids on Houses 4 and 5.

"If you are not a fan favourite you are not going to make money and I think that is very apparent today," Kristy finished.
Following House 3's disappointing auction result, Leah and Ash in House 2 were rattled when bidding on their own house appeared to be heading in the same direction. Unlike Kristy and Brett, they made the urgent call to pass their home in, rather than scrape through with a small profit.
Three months on from auction, the couple sold their home and managed to snag a profit of $155,000.
The Block 2022 Auction Day
Viewers and Blockheads were left shocked when two houses didn't sell at The Block's 2022 auctions.
Both Ankur and Sharon and Dylan and Jenny's houses didn't hit the reserve price of $4.08m and were therefore passed in to sell at a later date. Adrian Portelli eventually picked up Ankur and Sharon's house and Dylan and Jenny's remained on the market for some time before selling in 2023.
Tom and Sarah-Jane also had a "disappointing" auction result. Their house sold for $4,100,000.99, only giving them $20,000.99 profit.
Rachel and Ryan made $169,000.85 in profit after selling their home for $4,249,000.85, but it was match for Omar and Oz who took out the competition with a whopping $1.6 million profit, which includes the extra $100,000 prize for winning.
It was a bittersweet outcome for the 2022 contestants after a shocking auction result. Nine
