Ricky and Haydn's Main Ensuite

Ricky and Haydn had... well, let's call a spade a spade. One of the most disastrous weeks on The Block ever.

The duo faced a fiasco with their waterproofing, then the water stopper was placed the wrong way round, then the wrong primer was used resulting in the waterproofing being ripped off...
We're not done.
After that, the tilers ripped up the waterproofing along the wall instead of just on the ground, which damaged the plasterboard.
In the end, Foreman Dan had to tell the duo to "pull the pin" – the very worst case scenario.
Ricky and Haydn were distraught, and they then decided to let their builder go as a result.
Their main ensuite was shutdown and they clearly didn't finish, but they still presented what they had to the judges.

"It was a brutal week," Scotty said at Block HQ.
Ricky then explained what they had in mind for their space.
"Massive 2.8 metre-high ceilings, an enormous skylight... we were really confident we could win this week," he said.
Wary of what the judges were about to see, he added: "If this isn't the Sunday roasting of a lifetime..."
The boys managed to spend $13,162 dollars on their space this week, following a recommended guide of $23,000.
They'll need that money to finish the job, so it's not a bad thing in the slightest.
Rubbing salt in the wound, Scotty explained at HQ: "The judges walked to your room with a spring in their step, and were very pleased you painted the door of the Week 1 bathroom and changed the interior colour."
"It feels elegant!" Shaynna said, while Darren added: "It's transformed that bathroom completely."
If you remember, last week the vast array of colours garnered very negative comments from the judges who thought a much simpler white would make a huge difference.
And they were so happy they were right!
"This is a good start!" Marty gushed.
But that's not the room they were judging this week...
Then... they walked in.
"What the fudge is this?" Shaynna said, gawking at the space. "It doesn't take a week to paint a door!"
Her face dropped completely, as did Marty's. "You're kidding me," he said.
"Like... what on earth has happened here?"
"It's not even waterproofed let alone a tiled..." Shaynna scathed in disbelief.
Marty asked Shaynna how that "spring in her step" was now, to which she bluntly replied: "There is no spring. This is bad."
Marty described it as "the most unfinished room in Block history."
Back at Block HQ, Scotty was quick to point out that it actually isn't.
He then referenced Dan and Carleen's disastrous room in 2016, Jason and Sarah's space in 2017, Josh and Luke's bathroom in 2021... Oh, and Kristy and Brett's bathroom just last year!
You're in good company, lads.
Scotty said that there was really only one direction they could go from here, and that's up.
Darren noted that to do a bathroom in a week, "just about everything has to go exactly right" – and it was pretty obvious that wasn't the case this week.
The judges pondered if perhaps a trade had walked off at a point where Ricky and Haydn couldn't continue, and if that was the case "I feel really sorry for the boys".
Let's quickly recap what happened.
The judges were definitely on the right track.
After Foreman Dan and Ricky had to rip up the waterproofing, enough was enough.
Ricky had to have a tough conversation with their builder about the disastrous week.
"How do WE recover? This has been a nightmare. You're good at what you do, and you're a cracking dude but the way the last week or two has panned out has been a f--king disaster. It's all reactive rather than proactive," he said.
Haydn then arrived on the scene, and reiterated how much the guys had given up to get on The Block.
"For you to go off to a concert when we're in the middle of waterproof Wednesday... that's just heartbreaking," he said.
Then Ricky delivered the final blow, and said they could no longer work together.
"I feel sick for them," Shaynna said.
On a positive note, Scotty told the boys the judges thought the layout was "awesome".
"I can already see just from a planning perspective, everything is in the right spot. That would have been a double feature shower, double vanity to the left, a toilet tucked in behind the right," Marty explained.
There was one feature that definitely had the judges impressed.
"What's quite annoying is if this was Monday or Tuesday and we walked in here, I'd have actually felt quite excited for them. This skylight is amazing," Marty added.
Darren agreed.
"That [skylight] is absolutely artful and wonderful. This is crushing.
"We saw an elevation of the Week 1 bathroom, and that bathroom already looks streaks ahead of what it used to. I am confident this would have been fantastic."
Darren said it would have helped if they placed some tiles on the floor so the judges could at least see their vision, but added: "Obviously the finish is... diabolical."
