What a week it's been for Ricky and Haydn!

The best pals from Victoria came onto The Block with tons of energy and fluorescent clothing, with plumber Ricky keen to use his skills to make the best house possible.

After choosing House 3 in a game of chance, the duo went in full-throttle for Guest Bathroom Week – but things took a shocking turn when Haydn's pregnant wife Chelsea went into early labour, and he had to leave site in a chopper to welcome little Matilda into the world.

That meant Ricky had to carry on alone, but he rose to the challenge and made a bathroom the duo could be proud of.

But did the judges agree?

Scroll through to see what judges Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer and Marty Fox thought of their guest bathroom.

The duo's style can definitely be described as a cool, modern coastal vibe.

"I'm hoping when the judges walk in the room they can actually sense our style, rather than thinking we're a couple of idiots from Melbourne that dress in flouro gear..." Ricky laughed.

While the CommBank smart board recommends around a $20k budget for the guest bedroom, the boys spent $31,848 on their space.

"We've got a banging bathroom, and I think we've absolutely smashed it," Haydn told cameras.

When the judges walked in, they certainly had smiles on their faces.

Back at Block HQ, Scott Cam said Marty felt the layout was "great" with a good floor plan.

"The vanity is in the right spot, the bath feels good, this is a massive shower... everything seems to be working," Marty beamed.

"Not to mention Haydn was rushed out of here on Thursday for the birth of his child!

"This is commendable execution to be one man down."

Shaynna loved the boys' choice of the bathtub.

"I think the layout is incredible. I think the choice of tiles is perfect, I love this vanity and that bath is really cute," she gushed.

The shelf above the bath also received a huge tick of approval from Shaynna.

But it was then that Darren asked Shaynna a question which certainly sparked some debate.

"Is there enough impact for you?"

Her face said it all.

"This is where it's impact for impact's sake on a few things," she explained.

"This [pointing at the space] I think is all beautiful, but there's too many lines in the tiles, the panelling, the bath and the vanity.

"Slow it down a little bit, and make sure the colours are the same tones that it's going to work."

She continued: "The bluey grey doesn't work with that green, and it doesn't work with this as well.

"For me, the colour palette is mismatched. They could do this a really sophisticated deep colour, but this colour has to suit the rest of the house."

Shaynna even went as far as to describe the room as "childish".

"It's a bit kindergarten," Scotty reported the feedback back at Block HQ. "Bit harsh from Shaynna..."

Darren offered a word of advice for the boys.

"He thinks you should do a flat lay for each room to make sure all the elements go together before you start. Do you know what that means?" Scotty revealed, to which the boys agreed.

Darren explained: "When you do a flat lay, you get your tile, you get your other tile, your timber choices and your paint swatches.

You lay them all out and when you look at it, things should jump out that don't work – they're jarring."
