Who's who of Yellowstone: Your guide to the Dutton family ahead of the anticipated return of Season 5
Kevin Costner as John Dutton III
Kevin Costner is the star of Yellowstone playing John Dutton III. Dutton is a widowed sixth-generation patriarch who operates the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, the largest contiguous ranch in the United States.

At the start of the series, a tragic event hits John Dutton and his family which causes the siblings to begin to turn on each other as the role of John's successor is up for grabs.
The Dutton family ended Season 4 closer than ever, but it seems like things are only going to amp up for Season 5.
In the trailer for the fifth season, it looks like John is in for a big change.
"I John Dutton, do solemnly swear, to uphold the constitution of the state of Montana against all enemies foreign and domestic," he says while being sworn in.
But getting what he wants won't come easy and it looks like his struggles for power are far from over.
Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton
Luke Grimes plays Kayce Dutton, a former US Navy SEAL and John and Evelyn's youngest son.
In the first season, he lived on the nearby Broken Rock Indian Reservation with his Native American wife and son. In the second season, he and his family moved to live at the Dutton Ranch.
Kayce was estranged from his father when Yellowstone began.
However, over the last few seasons, he has grown closer to John.
Kelly Reilly as Bethany "Beth" Dutton
Kelly Reilly plays John's only daughter Bethany "Beth" Dutton.
Although well educated, highly intelligent, and a master manipulator, Beth is bitter and emotionally unstable, and suffers from a substance abuse problem which she later overcomes.
Beth is loyal and extremely protective of her father and in love with Rip Wheeler, whom she married at the end of Season 4.
Wes Bentley as Jamie Dutton
Wes Bentley plays Jamie Dutton, an aspiring politician and John and Evelyn's second-oldest child.
Although completely loyal to his father and family, he is constantly frustrated by their apparent intolerance of him.
Jamie has an intense love/hate relationship with his sister, Beth.
In Season 1 Jamie and campaign lead Christina (Katherine Cunningham) shared a forbidden relationship leading to the birth of their son.
Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler
Cole Hauser plays Rip Wheeler in Yellowstone.
Rip is the unofficially adopted son of John Dutton.
In flashbacks, Rip was revealed to have fled to the ranch after his mother and brother got murdered by his stepdad.
Rip killed his stepdad, but the wounds of not saving his family left an indelible mark on him.
Season 5 will continue to explore some of Rip's darkest demons as well as his relationship with this adopted dad, John.
Kayce and Monica's struggles are expected to continue to be a source of contention for the pair as Kayce builds on his relationship with his father.
