Turns out he actually bought one of the challenge apartments from The Block Soap Factory in 2016. He's revealed what drew him to that particular property.

"I needed a place in Melbourne because I spend so much time there," he told 9Entertainment.

"I love that building and I love Port Melbourne. I've lived in Port Melbourne for a while, renting, when I'm down there, so it was a perfect fit for me."

But there was another benefit of buying a Block apartment that he loved.

"And of course, the other thing is, those homes come fully furnished, with everything," he said.

"It's 'turn key and walk in', I didn't have to buy any furniture or artwork or anything. Even plates — they have plates there, and knives and forks."

Scott has been host of The Block for the past 10 years, so he's seen his fair share of apartments and homes renovated by the team.

But there were a couple of factors that pushed him to buying the Soap Factory challenge apartment.

"Well, there's only a few Blocks that have a challenge apartment, number one, and I obviously can't buy any of the contestants' apartments," he said.

The challenge apartments are sold off camera by the network and for Scott it was an opportunity he didn't want to miss out on when it went up for sale in 2017.

For him, the property is the ideal home away for not only himself, but his family too.

"I love it and my kids come down and stay with me, my wife comes down. We love Melbourne," he said.

"Obviously not right now, but my wife and I will fly down for a week outside of The Block to catch up with friends, because all of our people from The Block live in Melbourne.

"We'd go down for a week at different times of the year and spend time with those guys and go out for dinner and things like that."

The apartment was renovated by Season 16 contestants Will and Karlie, Dan and Carleen, Andy and Ben, Julia and Sasha and Kim and Chris, so it was a joint effort from all of that season's teams.
