Kylie and Brad had a "relaxed" week, which is not something you hear often on The Block!

They received help this week courtesy of the hipages lever and a very lucky pantry styling win from the Kinsman chocolate wheel.

After spending the first half of the series trying to perfect their moody, dark aesthetic for the judges – who weren't often a fan – Kylie and Brad thought they'd finally nailed it.

"I just really like the fact that the judges will get a very good idea of where we've been trying to go this whole time. I think that's what makes me proud," Kylie explained.

Kylie and Brad's kitchen was a very different layout to the other houses, and also did not have a butler's pantry – an addition that even host Scott Cam questions every year.

All together, the black-on-black space cost $12,030.

With this room, the couples aesthetic finally clicked and the judges suddenly had ideas for their controversial black bathroom from Week 1.

"This is actually the same palette but has this finish that we've been looking for," Marty said.

Darren suggested Kylie and Brad go back and change their bathroom to be more like this kitchen.

"That would be a fantastic bathroom if it had this essence, this nuance," Darren said.

At HQ, Scotty read that the judges thought it worked so well thanks to the materiality and simplicity.

"It's absolutely in line with what Kylie and Brad have been trying to do every single week. They've tried for this, but this is on the money," Darren said.

The black Miele appliances were "exactly the right choice" for this room, he continued.

The room's styling was extremely paired back – with just a chopping board and two plants.

It was a risky choice, but the judges loved it.

"It is so simple, but so luxurious," Marty praised.
