The Block's Dan Reilly's touching celebration of wife Dani on Mother's Day: 'I want to honour the strongest woman I know'

The Block's Dan Reilly celebrated his wife Dani on Mother's Day with a heartfelt message following the loss of their daugher Billie.

The couple announced the passing of their daughter, Billie Vera Reilly, in December 2024 at 10 days old.

"Today on Mother's Day, I want to honour the strongest woman I know my wife, Dani.You became a mum the moment we found out about Billie, and every single day since, you've shown what it means to love unconditionally," Dan began.

"Even though we only had 10 days with our beautiful girl, your strength, your love, and your devotion as her mum will live on forever.

"Billie was so lucky to have you as her mum. Thinking of all the mums today, especially those with babies in their hearts instead of their arms."

He shared a beautiful photo of Dani holding baby Billie in her arms.

Dani marked the special day herself by penning an emotional message to Billie and other mothers who have lost their babies.

"To my Billie, you're my daughter and I'm your mother—Yesterday, today and tomorrow," Dani wrote.

"To my sisters who have lost their babies, my tears are for us—I feel your longing, your desperation and your pain.

"I'm with you everyday but especially today, a day that will never feel how it was supposed to. Go gently, as they say."

In the wake of Billie's passing, Dan and Dani have been actively raising funds in her honour, already collecting over $39,000 for NICU support.

Dan and Dani shared Billie's story on her official fundraising page.

"After three long years, our dream of becoming parents finally came true. Through IVF, we conceived our Billie – a much-wanted and deeply loved baby girl. From the very beginning, she was strong, thriving through pregnancy, and we couldn't wait to meet her.

"But in the moments before her arrival, everything changed. Billie suffered distress during birth, the cause of which will never be known, and her tiny body was deprived of oxygen for too long.

"Despite the incredible efforts of the NICU team, the damage was too severe, and our beautiful Billie was unable to survive."

For 10 days The Women's NICU became home for Dan, Dani and Billie.

"The doctors, nurses, and staff (affectionately known as 'Billie's Besties') didn't just care for Billie; they cared for us as a family. They held space for our love, our grief, and our need to make memories in the time we had."
