The Block judges certainly have an eye for detail, but in Season 9 judge Darren Palmer's keen eye lead to the uncovering of one of the show's biggest scandals.

During a routine visit to judge the teams' rooms, Darren was inspecting the power point placement in brothers Simon and Shannon's master bedroom.

But as he poked his head under the bed he discovered something that definitely wasn't supposed to be there...

"There's a major error down here," Darren said as he retrieved an object from under the bed.

Darren pulled out a phone that was recording every word the judges were saying.

Of course, Simon and Shannon had planted it there and they got a stern talking to from Scott Cam back at Block HQ.

While brothers near-cheating scandal was certainly a big hiccup in their Block journey, it didn't stop them from taking out the top prize.

They pocketed over $400,000 come Auction Day, but their win was bittersweet.
