Who's ahead when it comes to Auction Day planning as real estate gurus Marty Fox and Alice Stolz visit The Block 2024

We're months away from The Block Auction Day, but it's never too early to start thinking about your real estate agent.

That's exactly what property gurus Alice Stolz and Marty Fox preached when they stopped by to visit The Blockheads on site.

Alice and Block judge Marty soon discovered just two teams of the five had started making plans with a realtor.

With that in mind, Alice and Marty were keen to find out who was already well-prepared for Auction Day and who needed to be steered in the right direction.

Kristian and Mimi

Marty was stressed to discover that Kristian and Mimi had done nothing when it came to finding an agent.

"I think I've been in denial about the whole agent and auctioneer situation," Mimi admitted.

"I don't like making adult decisions ever." We can relate Mimi.

Marty offered them some useful advice: "Real estate is a marketing game, look at how they shoot properties, look at their social media, look at how they present themselves because they are an extension of your campaign.

"You need to make sure it's someone that you get along with and who understands the property and the market."

Ricky and Haydn

In some great news, the best mates had already appointed an agency – none other than Ray White.

Marty was glad to hear it! They boys were yet to lock in an auctioneer but had their eyes on the highly-esteemed Tom Panos, who was the auctioneer for 2022 winners Omar and Oz and 2023 winners Steph and Gian.

Courtney and Grant

These guys were miles ahead when it came to being prepared for auction. Like Ricky and Haydn they'd also locked in Ray White, but had a different agent.

And while Ricky and Haydn had their eye on winning auctioneer Tom Panos, Courtney and Grant had already beat them to it.

"He's a Sydney auctioneer, we're a Sydney couple we thought we have to," Grant said.

"We met with Tom before we left Sydney and you go with the person who's got the results.

Courtney and Grant said they weren't 100 percent sure if Tom would be their auctioneer but had done the work to try and secure him.

Jesse and Paige

The young couple were yet to lock in an agent but Paige said it wasn't as if they'd been ignoring it.

"We have been having conversations and been putting names in the bank," she explained to Marty and Alice.

But Jesse and Paige admitted that they've never had to hire a real estate agent or an auctioneer before and admitted their lack of experience in that department did make the process a little more daunting. Understandable!

Alice told them they'd be fine as long as they enlisted the help of their "advisory board".

"That means listening to judges, doing your own research and speaking to the agent, they'll know who your buyer is going to be."

Kylie and Brad

Kylie and Brad were also yet to make any real estate or auctioneer plans.

Kylie was a little reluctant to talk realty with Marty, feeling like she was already on a backfoot after he'd been critical of their aesthetic.

But hesitation aside, the chat went well for the pair!

The Queensland couple revealed they weren't targeting their property at a couple with kids but Alice thought it could be beneficial to them to reconsider that.

"Bare in mind that buyer 24 to 54, over half of them have kids," Alice advised.
