New details have emerged following the split between Aussie musician G Flip and Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause after four years together.

The couple’s extremely long-distance relationship was a major factor behind their recent breakup, a source told PEOPLE on Thursday, with neither wanting to “uproot” their lives for the other.

Stause, 45, confirmed the news of her split from the ARIA winner, 33, on Tuesday in a teary Instagram video.

“The distance is what really drove the two of them apart,” a source close to Stause revealed to the publication.

“The long flights, going weeks without seeing each other, and time difference took its toll.”

“They both wanted to have kids, but they also both didn’t want to uproot their lives for the other,” the source claimed.

Off the back of G Flip’s recent AFL Grand Final performance and Aussie shows, the two were splitting their time between California and Australia.

Stause did accompany G Flip, whose real name is Georgia Claire Flipo, to Australia just weeks ago. The source, however, claimed the extensive travel proved too much for the pair.

While the pair were reportedly trying to make their marriage work, G Flip and Stause were never legally married, despite three ceremonies.

In May 2023, the pair wed – though not legally – in a secret Las Vegas ceremony.

The couple renewed their vows in Australia in July 2024, and again in a medieval-themed celebration at a Los Angeles castle in July 2025.

When announcing their split on Tuesday, both G Flip and Stause said they “will always love” each other.

The source claimed the pair haven’t ruled out reuniting romantically in the future.

The update comes after Stause admitted she doesn’t “have all the information and the reasons” for the breakup.

“I’m sure just like always with time you get the lessons you’re meant to get. And I know that will happen and I’m gonna heal and everything’s gonna be fine,” she said when announcing their split on Tuesday.

Stause, who was previously married to This Is Us actor Justin Hartley, vowed that she is “definitely never doing this again.”

“I feel like a little bit of a failure,” Stause continued.

“There's nothing you could say about me that would be worse than what I say to myself, so I just have to kind of heal and figure this out.”

G Flip has also addressed the split, sharing a statement on their Instagram account shortly after Stause took to social media to announce the news publicly.

The pair began dating in March 2022, just a few months after Stause split from her Selling Sunset co-star Jason Oppenheim.

Just hours after Stause confirmed her split from G Flip, Oppenheim penned a touching message to his ex in the comments.

“I’m really sorry to hear this. I’m thinking of you and sending you my love,” he wrote.

“You’re both beautiful people and sometimes things just don’t work out, but it certainly doesn’t mean anyone failed.

“There’s probably nothing anyone can say to make you feel better right now, it might just take some time to process. But please know that you’re very loved and I’m always there for you no matter what.”

On top of weddings, Stause and G Flip were going through the IVF process in the hopes of having a child together.

Last year Stause opened up about her struggles with their journey towards becoming parents in a raw post on social media.

“There are other alternatives, but this route needed to be tried first bc of timing. So if it’s meant to be it will be. If not, pivot,” she posted on Instagram at the time.

G Flip also spoke about their roller coaster IVF experience with People last September.

“For anyone going through IVF – queer or straight couples or anyone not even in a couple, just even on their own – it’s such a hard thing,” they said.

“In the end, you’ve got to lean on each other and be there for each other, and come out of it still a unit and try not to let it break the relationship or break people individually.”
