G Flip reveals truth behind ‘top secret’ performance with Kylie Minogue
Exclusive: Almost two million Aussies tuned in as G Flip joined pop royalty Kylie Minogue for the AFL Grand Final show. Now, G has a confession to make.
“I blacked out,” the two-time ARIA winner, 33, told nine.com.au, recalling the five words playing through the singer’s head: “I can’t stuff this up”.

“I was nervous because it was Kylie Minogue,” G continued. “I was like, I can’t stuff this up, this is her big moment, I practised so much.”
Minogue, 58, was reportedly paid up to $3 million for the 20-minute half-time show, multiple outlets have speculated.
A career-defining moment for both stars, the surprise duet was kept “top secret” from the world. Of course, there was one exception.
“I happened to be sitting next to Dannii [Minogue] at the NRL game that came to Melbourne,” said G, who made their Yours & Owls festival debut last weekend teaming up with instax.
“I just sat down and someone tapped me on the leg and goes, ‘You’re going to be performing with my sister soon’.”
“I was like, Oh my god, Dannii, you know? Because it was so top secret then, I couldn’t tell anyone.”
The Bed on Fire singer joined Minogue on stage during the star’s live performance of Padam Padam.
“As soon as [Kylie] came over, and she kissed my Kylie Minogue tattoo on my arm, I feel like I just blacked out from there on, I don’t really remember,” G laughed.
“It was really inspiring to be a small part of such a large scale, amazing performance and a big moment for Kylie,” said G Flip. Instagram/@gflip
The Aussie drummer has the words ‘Kylie thinks I’m cute’ inked on their arm.
“She said I was cute in an interview in 2020 or something and I got it tattooed that day.”
“I look up to her so much,” G added. “[Kylie’s] a perfectionist and such a hard worker.
“She has so many employees and hundreds and hundreds of dancers, and she’s the same gorgeous, lovely human being to every single person she’s near.”
Like tattoos, G Flip collects memories from stage, and in another surprise moment brought one lucky fan up on stage during the star’s Yours & Owls debut last weekend.

But the pouring rain did little to stop the fun.

Teaming up with instax, G Flip took a selfie with the lucky fan in front a crowd they could only describe as “crazy, packed and loud”.
“I love playing shows in Wollongong,” said G. “I just want to keep working, write my next album and keep doing this for a living.
“I can’t believe my year and how it’s shaped out, and I’m just so grateful.”
