Courtney and Grant's Living and Dining Room

It was a long week for Courtney and Grant who spent little of Living and Dining Room Week sleeping.
But the couple were determined to impress the judges after they received less than favourable feedback last week.
Courtney acknowledged that the living and dining rooms would undoubtedly be the "hardest space because it's the centre point of the house".

House 2 had high hopes for their living and dining area. With the pair losing out by half a point a few times, Courtney and Grant hoped they could snag the win this week without even having to cash in their Bonus Point Penguin.

Courtney and Grant splashed $36,282 on their living and dining spaces.
It's a fair bit more than the recommended $25,000, but when families spend most of their time congregating in those communal areas House 2 were happy to up the budget.

The duo were "feeling really confident" in what they had produced but were still unsure if it would win against the stiff competition.
Off the back of House 1's "vanilla" room, the judges felt Courtney and Grant's space was a different ice cream flavour – rum and raisin, to be more specific.
"Question is, you can have vanilla every day but can you have rum and raisin every day?" Marty wondered.
Shaynna's answer was "absolutely!"
Darren disagreed, and wasn't feeling rum and raisin as much as he was feeling hokey pokey.
"I think it's got a vanilla base with some lovely honeycomb in it with loads of chunks of glory and flavour and colour and drama," he said.
"Yum!"
Back at HQ, the judges' feedback so far had left Courtney and Grant with more questions than answers.
"I don't know what that means," Grant said of the judges' ice cream metaphor.
"Is that good or bad?'
Same, guys.
The resounding verdict was that it was very good.
"I love that we do have the naturals and the neutrals with a little bit of punch," Shaynna applauded them.
Last week the judges thought Courtney and Grant's styling was "a bit too much".
But the judges felt that this week they'd delivered a room that was authentically them and paired back in a really good way.
In another huge win for House 2, the judges fell in love with their dining chairs which were imagined and produced by furniture designer Courtney.
"Have you ever seen dining chairs like this before?" Shaynna said in awe.
"They're so cool!"
Darren was really drawn to the shape of the dining table chairs.
"The colour is beautiful, the form is beautiful. They work beautifully with that table and that base, the proportions of the table are generous. It's gorgeous.
"It's just what we said we were looking for in House 1."
