"I grew up working on the tools with a dog my whole life," the host said in an exclusive video you can watch above.

Scotty recalled his dog Lizzie who went on Backyard Blitz with him more than 25 years ago and Rosie in the years that followed. Both dogs have now sadly passed.

As The Block moved to more expansive sites like Gisbourne and Phillip Island, Scotty thought there was more than enough room for new kelpie Frankie to come along.

"She's a ripping dog. Highly smart and highly trained by me," Scotty quipped proudly.

"People always ask, 'Where did you get her trained?' I go, 'I trained her!'

"I'm a dog trainer from way back. I love it!"

Scotty had a special message for Block fans after he revealed that he rescued all of his dogs from RSPCA NSW Sydney Adoption Centre in Yagoona, Sydney.

"All my three dogs came from the same place. Every 15 years I head back to Yagoona and get another dog," he said.
