Exclusive: Eliza and Liberty reveal one regret after winning $1.05 million at auction on The Block 2023

Everyone loves an underdog and with zero renovation experience, Eliza and Liberty were definitely the underdogs of The Block 2023.

Whatever the sisters lacked in experience, they made up for in enthusiasm.

And the enthusiasm was at an all time high as their underdog to hero story came full circle when the sisters bagged a $1.05 million profit after their house was bought by Adrian Portelli.

"I'm still in shock, it hasn't sunk in for me just yet," Liberty exclusively told 9Entertainment moments after their auction.

While the sisters struggled at times during their 12-week journey, Liberty had "zero regrets" coming on The Block.

Eliza, on the other hand, had just one. "I regret being a bit dramatic in Backyard Week but I feel good now," she confessed.

The sisters were feeling "lucky and grateful" after winning $1.05 million.

"We couldn't have asked for better and we hope everyone gets this feeling," Liberty said. 

It was an even bigger shock for the girls, who were convinced they weren't going to make any money due to their high reserve.

The sisters admitted they were a bit bamboozled as their auction played out.

"We didn't hear the first bid and then to hear it was $3.9million, we thought 'Whatever happens from here that's already exceeded it,' Liberty explained.

Liberty admitted it was "bizarre" for Adrian Portelli to bid against himself at one point in the auction but they were glad to "reap the benefits".

"That is an insane amount of money. That is unbelievably life-changing," Liberty told cameras.

"Who has that money in their bank ever… apart from Adrian Portelli?" Eliza laughed. 

The sisters admitted she only ever hoped to clear the money they'd lost from the experience, perhaps buy a nice bag and maybe go on a holiday.

Now that "big European holiday" will most definitely be a reality and they've already talked about visiting fellow millionaire-winners Steph and Gian's home countries.
