Team's 'controversial' win in feisty roasting challenge as Scott Cam drops $50,000 bombshell on The Block

It was a "controversial" win during The Block's first ever comedy roast challenge just as host Scott Cam dropped a game-changing bombshell.

Teams thought they were playing for $5,000 and a Bonus Point Gnome. But the stakes were higher – an extra $50,000 higher!

Hosted by renowned entertainer Reuben Kaye, and in front of 1000 locals at Her Majesty's Theatre, the Blockheads were off to a cracking start.

There was no playing nice, teams could rip on each other, the judges and even Reuben, if they dared.

Britt and Taz opened the night with some hilarious bangers, including a fiery dig at Emma and Ben.

Han and Can did the exact opposite, causing Scotty to interrupt mid-roast.

With Sonny and Alicia the butt of their jokes.  Nine

Emma and Ben broke "rule number one of a roast" by burning the crowd.

"I think that went down like a led balloon," reacted Alicia. While Sonny and Alicia left the contestants in "stitches".

With the help of a nifty clap-o-meter, Reuben began ranking the teams. He placed Sonny and Alicia at the top before Shelley Craft took over.

That's when Shelley placed Robby and Mat at the top instead.

"I feel like Shelley decided the boys were better than me," said a salty Sonny.

But Alicia disagreed, so maybe Sonny just didn't take his loss lightly!
