Meet new Blockheads Maddy and Charlotte – the youngest ever contestants to compete on The Block

"Don't underestimate us."

That's the warning new Block contestants Maddy and Charlotte came with when they stepped on-site during Tuesday's episode.

The sisters arrived as the new kids on The Block after Jesse and Paige made the heart-breaking decision to leave one month into renovations.

At 24 and 22, Maddy and Charlotte are the youngest ever duo to compete on the reno show but even at such a young age the pair have plenty of experience under their belt.

Maddy is an accounting graduate while Charlotte has done a business degree – but the Sydneysiders are also seasoned property flippers. They bought their first house, a shack in Newcastle, in 2020 "with zero idea" of what they were getting themselves into.

Meet Maddy and Charlotte and hear their story in the video above.

They saved up for their first house deposit with money made through multiple part-time jobs babysitting, tutoring, doing shifts at McDonald's and piano teaching, all while still studying.

Maddy and Charlotte got their hands dirty and learned the tricks of the trade while renovating their Newcastle shack. It's since been renovated, subdivided and sold.

They now have three builds on the go with more planned, while still juggling their odd jobs and working in the family business. 

With loads of experience behind them they now say they have "renovating down pat".

"We could do it with our eyes closed," Maddy said.

"I take the planning and the budgeting whereas the practical side, say if someone was going to help our carpenter build a deck, then you pick Charlotte."

Charlotte will stay on-site during the build and work closely with the tradies. She is not afraid to roll up her sleeves and get stuck into the heavy lifting – much like she does in their own renovations.

Maddy will be the designated interior designer in the team, heading out shopping most days on Phillip Island and in Melbourne. 

Maddy and Charlotte were prepared for people to misjudge them.

"I think people will underestimate us but I like that challenge... we thrive off that," Maddy said proudly.

While Charlotte added, "Yeah, I like proving people wrong."

It's a good thing the sisters have no shortage of confidence because their first stint on The Block wasn't going to be an easy feat.

Having arrived in the middle of Week 5, Maddy and Charlotte had just four-and-a-half days to meet the other teams, get acquainted with their builder, find their way around site and deliver a completed main bedroom and walk-in-robe.
