Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were joined by a thousand of their nearest and dearest on July 4 as they officially tied the knot in New York City.

But in a room of 1,000 people, one famous face was missing was from Swift’s fairytale wedding, her former best friend Blake Lively. Once inseparable, Lively’s absence speaks volumes about their doomed friendship.

After all, the two had been best friends since 2015. Swift is even godmother to all four children Lively shares with husband Ryan Reynolds.

Where was the A-list couple when the wedding event of the century took place?

They were just hours away in Upstate New York by a lake.

Lively wasn’t reportedly just snubbed from the generous guest list. Reports reveal she and Swift are no-longer on speaking terms, and it all started from a string of leaked texts.

Single photo raises one glaring question

As guests began to arrive for Swift and Kelce’s three-day wedding extravaganza, the world began to wonder if Lively would attend.

On the same day as the wedding rehearsal, Lively and Reynolds were photographed in Upstate New York. TMZ have photos of the couple cheering on their daughter in a horse show in Lake Placid.

So, while they were in the same state and only a few hundreds of miles away from Madison Square Garden where the wedding would take place, they could have technically still made the main ceremony, right?

Don’t hold your breath.

Lively’s ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni – which Swift got dragged into – is believed to be at least one of the reasons the actress wasn’t invited.

“Taylor’s in a different place now and she just wants to be around people she trusts and who bring her peace,” a source told Page Six.

“It’s a shame because she and Blake really were close, but she doesn’t think it’s something that’s going to be fixed. As far as [Taylor’s] concerned, their friendship is done.”

Their once close friendship fell apart when Swift’s name was pulled into Lively’s legal case against Justin Baldoni, and private texts between the pals were aired to the world.

Court case fuels bad blood

The private texts, which were part of previously sealed court documents, were revealed in Lively’s lawsuit against her It Ends With Us co-star and director over allegations of sexual harassment and retaliation.

In May 2025, Baldoni and his team tried to subpoena the superstar to speak on the case, claiming she was used by Lively to leverage more creative control over the film.

After the request was filed, Swift’s spokesperson released a scathing statement saying: “Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”

Following Swift’s response, Baldoni and his legal team withdrew the subpoena request.

Lively questions the friendship and Swift sings back

In a separate exchange, texts revealed Lively had messaged the Love Story singer asking if the pair were OK, saying she had “a feeling something may not be right” between them.

Swift frankly replied: “I feel really bad saying anything about this because your texts have been so nice in their intent but your last few... it’s felt like I was reading a mass corporate email sent to 200 employees.

“I just kinda miss my funny, dark, normal-speaking friend who talks to me as herself.”

When Swift’s latest album The Life of a Showgirl was released in October last year, fans speculated that the sixth track on the album was linked to the breakdown of Swift and Lively’s friendship. The track was titled Ruin The Friendship.
