Sarah Abo returns to Today as four-week-old son Sonny makes TV debut

Today host Sarah Abo has made a grand return to the morning TV couch alongside a very special guest: her four-week-old son, Sonny.
Abo and her husband of more than a decade, Cyrus Moran, welcomed Sonny in mid-July after she departed the show early to go on maternity leave.

Today, she returned to catch up with colleagues and viewers with him bundled in her arms.
Unsurprisingly, Abo said she was “so obsessed” with her “darling boy.”
“It’s amazing, actually, the transformation that your mind takes because you just go, ‘I don’t care about anything else’, and you are the most important thing in my life,” she said.
“And you just keep staring at them and the noises they make and the faces they make change all the time.”
Abo said her family had settled into a nice routine, with Sonny feeding and sleeping well.
Plus, her personal experience with early mornings for the Today hosting gig has proved very handy.
“This job does definitely prepare you, and everyone said that! I thought I wasn’t getting much sleep doing this, but let me tell you,” she said with a laugh.
“Sleep is very welcome, and you don’t get much of it when you have a little bubba, but it’s all worth it.”

While she’s been loving the new-mum bubble of the last four weeks, Abo is preparing to attend the Logies on August 16 without Sonny.
She joked there was a “superhero effort” happening behind the scenes to get her ready for the night out, including a gown being made by Melbourne designer Sonia Cappellazzo.
“I think it’s a nice opportunity to be there with you guys all as well,” she told her colleagues, Tom Steinfort, Sylvia Jeffreys and Jayne Azzopardi.
Today is nominated for Best Current Affairs Program and Abo herself is up for the Ray Martin Award for Most Popular News or Public Affairs Presenter.
