The Guides | The Cook Islands
They say the Melbourne Cup stops the nation. Well this race, truly stops the island.
Cook Island's famous 'International Crab Race' was unlike anything the Guides had heard before.
The best part? It's a free weekly activity held at one of the popular resorts. Although, betting on your crab might cost you some money...
The Guides | The Cook Islands
To participate, first you need to pick a crab and place your bet.
"What's happening here?" Matt wondered before they saw what happened next.
To take the race to the next level, participants were asked take off their flip flops (thongs and sandals) and throw them into the ring. This created an obstacle course for the cruising crustaceans.
Matt and Brett | The Cook Islands
Let the chaos begin!
Matt and Brett betted on the 'All Blacks'. Unfortunately, they didn't win.
"We had become over invested," Brett laughed.
The Frens | The Cook Islands
Sun safety first!
The Fren family take a moment by the sunny beach side, while Jono lathers up in SPF50 sunscreen.
Kev, Dorian and Teng | The Cook Islands
The boys take a wild ride on the sea biscuit!
Although, Dorian and Teng look less than impressed that Kev was the onedriving the jet ski, while they were towed.
Matt and Brett | The Cook Islands
Looking much more relaxed were Matt and Brett, floating through the stunning blue waters.
Karly and Bri | The Cook Islands
Karly and Bri feed some local marine life, although... don't look like they've having much fun.
When we say these fish were big, they were BIG.
Karly and Bri | The Cook Islands
Karly and Bri try the local seafood the best way possible – grilled on the barbecue, right on the beach.
Kevin and Janetta | The Cook Islands
Janetta and Kevin relax to the max on their way to Honeymoon Island.
It's no wonder they called this the "best vacation yet".
