Tess and Luke Struber are having a baby!

The couple from Cairns, who won The Block 2019, first confirmed their exciting news in Stellar magazine, which was accompanied with a glamorous photoshoot.

Tess revealed she's 20 weeks along and that she thought pregnancy would be a more "beautiful and gorgeous and glowing" experience.

"I've had the complete opposite," she admitted. "I've lost my hair, I've had skin issues, I've been sick every day, I've had migraines, nose bleeds, it's been the most unattractive pregnancy... but I'm loving every minute of it."

The couple decided to share their pregnancy news because they felt ready to.

"Our view on pregnancy is that it's quite a private thing. The fact of the matter is that you don't know anyone's journey, you don't know how long it's taken them to get pregnant or how they've been feeling," Tess said.

"Or what they might be going through," Luke added. "People will tell you on their own terms."

The couple said they are yet to "spend a dollar" of the $730,000 they took home in winnings on The Block in 2019.

Fans will remember the young couple were the underdogs of the competition and were completely shocked when their house — which went under the hammer second on auction day — sold for $3,620,000 and earned them a profit of $630,000. They won an additional $100,000 for being the winners of The Block.

They had planned to go to Europe for their proper honeymoon since they had skipped one to do The Block, but the COVID-19 global pandemic put a stop to that.

And while their baby news is something they couldn't be happier about, Luke also revealed the year had been "challenging" for his family after his mum was recently diagnosed with a brain tumour, which means he's had to take over his father's business.

Tess' grandmother also passed away during the pandemic, making it an even tougher time for them and their loved ones.

Tess and Luke are focusing on building their dream home — they've even been sharing plans with their followers on Instagram — and setting up their young family, which is something they previously spoke to 9Entertainment about.

"It's definitely changed our lives, I mean, obviously the money that we won is just going to set us up for the rest of our lives and we want to spend it wisely — we're not going to blow it or anything like that," Tess told 9Entertainment.

"We can actually breathe, sit down, look through everything and make a thousand and one changes, and not having Scotty Cam going 'and plan number 492'," Luke said of being able to build a house at their own pace.

And while Luke joked they "still have nightmares about walking up and down that three-storey scaffold" on The Block 2019, they couldn't be more grateful for the experience.

"But, it's crazy, what an amazing year we've had, we're so grateful for all of the opportunities we've been given, even just walking through the shops and people go 'Up the cane toads' and ask for a photo," Luke said. "It definitely makes it all worthwhile."

Tess and Luke returned to The Block earlier this year as part of Hell Week, when the 2019 contestants returned as All Stars to help this year's Blockheads. Tess and Luke were paired with fellow Queenslanders Jimmy and Tam.
