Episode 16 recap: Rivals fuming over ‘stolen’ tradies, while team ‘is done’ with competition

It’s four days until Main Ensuite reveal on The Block, and the tears are flowing faster than a leak in your waterproofing.
Speaking of, the girls in House 4 are having an absolute nightmare pulling up their waterproofing again. Site manager Aido is forced to intervene. His solution?
Ding, ding! Nine
He calls on the Cursio brothers to save their butts (also again). But a job this big requires extra hands.
Aaaaand did a fourth Cursio just spawn out of thin air?!
Meet Michael, son of Gino Cursio! Nine
Here’s the deal: Anthony and Adrian Cursio are locked in as Chantel and Wyatt’s tilers. As of today, Gino and Michael are working with Courtney and Sev.
Sev casually notes Chantel and Wyatt “might get upset” when they find out.
Welp, we’re about to find out right here:
Wyatt points out they’ve already helped House 4 by “hooking them up with waterproofers in Week 1, tilers in Week 2 (which helped them win), and waterproofers last night”.
He’s not wrong!
Rick in House 5 is also feeling “a little bit pissed” about the special treatment.
“We don’t get an extra pair of hands, I’ve been fighting the battle since day one,” he politely vents to cameras.
Meanwhile, Adam and Jolene in House 1 are drowning. If they don’t start tiling now, Foreman Dan predicts a “disaster” coming.
Nothing a challenge can’t fix!
There’s $10,000 cash up for grabs alongside the return of the infamous Bonus Point Gnome.
A what?! Nine
Rick and Tayla are so stunned by the prize, they ditch the flat-pack dog kennel they’re supposed to build and whip out the power tools.
Rick builds a mansion kennel in record time and the team takes home the win.
Sadly, no amount of fluffy puppies can bring a smile to Jolene’s face. With no power tools after 6pm, tiles still need to be cut. Stat.
“At this point, I knew we were in trouble, big trouble,” she sighs.
Adam races off site to cut the remaining tiles, but by the time he gets back, their tilers had left for the day.
Then came the brutal realisation: “it is very, very unlikely we will finish the room”.
“Yeah, we’re done,” says Adam, defeated.
Next days it’s walkarounds and “baby girl” Jolene is doing her absolute best to smile through the tears.
Oh Jolene, Jolene, Joleeeene, Joleeeeneee.... Nine
Shelley Craft’s motherly instincts kick in, reminding the shattered couple they’re “not alone”.
The couple realise their tiler perhaps, is not cut out for the competition’s pressure. So they need to “reset” and soak up Shelley’s glowing pep talk.
Over at House 4, the hosts are offering zero sympathy.
In fact, Courtney and Sev get an absolute verbal thrashing from Scotty and Shelley.
“You might be the first team in the history of The Block not to finish based on money,” Scotty warns sternly.
“You’ve got to reign it in.” Nine
Look, it’s been a week from hell.
So Scotty takes advantage of the public holiday and takes the teams out for a beautiful lunch at a local winery.
Naturally, they’re forced to compete in an egg and spoon race for the chance to stock their future fridges with a case of fancy Crittenden wine.
The teams reset, perhaps not in the way Shelley intended…
Byeeeeeeee. Nine
What they helly is going on here? Nine
It’s a chaotic sprint to the finish come Sunday Night, where five Main Ensuites are (hopefully) revealed.
See you then!
