While the hats are available for purchase, the boys' explained that the purpose of the project wasn't to make a profit, rather they think of the project as a "movement".

"We don't care if we make any money off it, basically we just want to bring some colour back into fashion. Let's flex some fun, dress how you feel and just have a laugh," Ricky and Haydn told 9Entertainment.

The boys have been decked out in retro hats, leggings and party shirts long before The Block but there's a heartwarming origin story to Ricky and Haydn's infamous look.

"We always used to wear bright leggings, arm bands and party shirts when we went to festivals and gigs, it just became a tradition but at one point people started stopping us to have a chat and to take photos," Ricky explained.

"We started wearing our get up to the airport when we'd travel and then it just became what we actually feel most comfortable wearing. We like being bright, looking and feeling fun.

"The reaction was that we just made other people feel good, make them smile and it just made everyone else's time more enjoyable."

Haydn revealed that since sporting all different shades of pink, yellow and green on The Block, viewers have reached out to him with touching stories of their own.

"I had one person come up to me and say, 'My son was getting bullied because he likes to wear pink and since seeing you and Ricky on The Block his friends are rallying around him," he said.

"It's those sort of feel good stories I love to hear."
