Elyse Knowles opens up about her 'rough' first trimester

Former Blockheads Elyse Knowles and Josh Barker recently announced they're expecting their first baby.

While chatting with Today Extra's David Campbell and Sylvia Jeffreys on Wednesday, the model admitted she's finally starting to feel better after a rough first trimester.

"I'm much better. No more spewsies from the belly, life is good," the 28-year-old said.

Elyse admitted it was a little bit rough, but she is just so grateful to have "a little bubba" in her belly.

"We are tickled pink, can't wait for the adventure," she said.

And it looks like life for Elyse, Josh and their new arrival will be quite an adventure if he has anything to say about it.

"Josh has grand ideas of teaching it how to surf and skate. I'm a little bit scared," she said.

"That's just the first year — he thinks it is going to happen like that."

She's currently still juggling modelling, renovating their new home in Byron Bay and pregnancy, but admitted her career may take a back seat when the baby arrives.

"I don't know when, but I want to embrace being a mum and being at home and really soaking in every moment with bubba," she said.

Elyse and Josh recently returned from a trip to the Northern Territory where they announced she was pregnant, and so far, it doesn't look like pregnancy is slowing her down at all.

Although when asked by David if there are any changes she's going to make, she explained that she's paying more attention to what she's putting into her body.

Elyse said the yoghurt Two Good has been her go-to because it's high in protein and low in sugar, which she believes is a great option.

"Much better for you than the hot chips on I lived through pregnancy, power to you," joked Sylvia.

Elyse said, "I've only just got to that stage. I was on pasta and bread for a long time."

Josh and Elyse were the fan favourites when they competed on The Block Elsternwick in 2017.

Throughout the season the pair proved they were a force to be reckoned with. They took out six of the 12 Room Reveal wins, including two perfect scores. In addition they won countless challenge and the coveted Domain cover too.

But on auction day they took the risk to go first and it paid off big time. Their home sold for $3.067m, earning a profit of $447,000, making them winners of the season. On top of their profit they won $100,000 in prize money. Later it was revealed that comedian and TV personality Dave 'Hughesy' Hughes had bought the property.

Since their time on the show, Elyse has continued modelling while Josh has carried on with building and design — although she has been joining in on that too.
