'What a gift she is': The Block's Dani Reilly marks six weeks since the passing of daughter Billie in emotional tribute

The Block's Dan and Dani Reilly have marked six weeks since the passing of their 10-day-old daughter Billie Vera.

Dani penned an emotional message online, opening up about the complicated feelings that have come with slowly returning back to day-to-day life.

She also shared a beautiful picture, taken by husband Dan, of her and Billie holding hands.

"This weekend we had our first social event since being thrown so violently into what many have told us is 'the worst club in the world'…" Dani began.

"It was many things; anxiety inducing in the weeks leading into it, truly humbling as our friends banded together to create safety for us, extremely sad as it felt like I was in exactly the same place in life as this time last year, but it was also fun. I had fun."

Dani reflected on her time spent "dancing, smiling and laughing" with friends and felt deeply grateful to be a part of such a supportive community.

While she thanked those around her for "going to the ends of the earth" to show their love and care, Dani admitted that "the feeling of loss intensifies when the fun is over."

"This grief thing is truly so horrendous," Dani said candidly.

Dani was grappling with just how quickly time was passing by since the loss of Billie.

"It's been 6 weeks to the day since Dan took this photo of me with our beautiful Billie. Honestly, how?! How has it been almost 6 weeks since we lost her from the physical world?!" she wrote.

"The one thing I've struggled with the most this week is how quickly time is racing away from when she was with us.

"With that I'm told comes healing, but it's also further away from the time I could hold her hand on my face, and I'd still prefer that over anything else I have in this world.

"Gosh this love is a lot. I was literally born to love her. What a gift she is."

Dan also took to his social media to share a picture of their first catch-up with those close to them.

"Saturday was our first outing with friends. Very grateful to have the love and support from them all," he wrote.

He stood smiling with his arm wrapped around three mates.

Fans and friends rallied around Dani in the comment section and were in awe of her and Dan's vulnerability and bravery.

"Every post you write is so beautifully written and so raw. Thank you for sharing it with us all. We are all thinking of you," The Block's Sarah Bragias wrote.

While another said, "Billie is the little hero we all didn't realise we needed. She may have only been here for a fleeting moment but her impact is enormous."

In December 2024, Dan and Dani announced the devastating news that their daughter Billie had passed away at 10-days-old.

The couple told followers in a post shared to Instagram.

"It is with insurmountable grief that we share the news that our daughter Billie, has passed on from this life and into the next at just 10 days young," the couple wrote.

"In Billie's short time in this world, she taught us an intensity of both love and pain we never knew possible. She taught us what really matters.

"Billie was so wanted, so loved and she made us parents… and what an honour it is to be her mummy and daddy. She will always be our daughter.

"We understand there will be questions, and so many of the answers we just don't have yet.

"We'll share more in time but for now we ask for privacy as we work through this together and with our loved ones."

Australia came to know and love Dan and Dani in 2012 when they became contestants on The Block while they were dating and left with a life-changing $448,000.

Dan and Dani returned in 2013 for the The Block All Stars series taking home a profit of $220,000, and Dan later became Foreman on The Block.

The pair tied the knot in 2018 after nine years together in an intimate ceremony on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.
