EXCLUSIVE: We've watched them walk away with record-breaking profits, but what is it really like to be a contestant on The Block?

In the exclusive and unseen video above, the Blockheads from this year's mammoth 20th season shared their biggest advice for future (and aspiring) Block stars.

Whether you've applied for the show or have been inspired to star your own renovations, these tips and tricks are pure Block gold.

"Any future Blockheads listening..." Kristian began.

"I would tell any future Blockhead to plan, plan, and plan more in advance than ever," Grant continued.

Yep, this is before you even go on the renovation show.

Sydney-siders Courtney and Grant won an incredible $1.35 million profit on The Block 2024 after billionaire Adrian Portelli snapped up their lavish home.

In the video, the runners up revealed all the prep work they did leading up to the competition to help them stand out from the crowd – and to ensure they didn't arrive to the competition empty handed.

"I'd have that all locked in before you start," advised Courtney.

"It's one of the biggest things," Grant added.

Of course, winning a few rooms along the way always helps – as well as "kindness".

"Be true to who you are," said Maddy, while Charlotte added: "Kindness always wins."

The sisters broke records on Auction Day as the youngest-ever winners of The Block at just 22 and 24, walking away with $1,650,000 cash.

From budgeting advice to one bathroom tip that will promise "a massive advantage", the Blockheads have certainly learned a lot during their time.

While Kylie admitted the experience was "far from a holiday", House 3's Ricky reminded future contestants to "make the most of your time".

"I think resiliency is definitely a big part of being able to get through the Block and getting through it successfully," added Haydn.
