Courtney and Sev took home the week eight win for their near perfect Rumpus and Laundry, and it seems that one game-changing design choice may have sealed the deal for the best friend duo.
Intent on continuing their winning streak, the girls put their all into their week eight room, sparing no expense or effort as they managed to deliver a room some would say was close to perfection.
This week, the pair decided to install cabinetry with a double-sliding door to hide the TV, a feature that shockingly appears to be a first on The Block.
As soon as the judges entered the room, they recognised that things had been taken to the next level. Immediately, they were drawn to the stunning cabinet doors hiding the TV, with plenty of shelving for storage either side.
It sounds simple, but it’s a choice that elevated the room from lavish comfort to outright luxury.
In such a large room, one of the most important things is to make sure the size of the furniture and fittings fills the space. And that’s exactly what Courtney and Sev did with their TV cabinet, ensuring the feature took up near the entirety of their largest wall.
Using her design background, Sev had the advantage of being able to create a 3D render of the room she had envisioned, a skill set that paid off when the girls took home an easy win for the week.
Designing the hidden TV cabinet, Sev explained that the theory behind the choice was to convert the room from a relaxing hangout area to a full-on theatre experience with a simple slide of a door.
