House 4 delivered a neutral-coloured kids' room this week, but it certainly wasn't a simple road to get there.

At the start of the week, Kylie and Brad had planned to do another adult guest bedroom – until a site visit from real estate guru and judge Marty Fox threw a real spanner in the works.

Marty said not pivoting to a children's space with multiple beds would be "a miss".

"It just goes away from what I wanted to do," Kylie said.

But they listened to the advice and decided to take it. Did it turn things around for them?

Needless to say, this week was all about compromise for the Queensland parents.

"I'm compromising. I'm doing a kids' room in a slightly more coastal direction, neither of which I would normally do!" Kylie explained.

She wanted the judges to see what they were listening to critiques and taking it onboard.

They spent a total of $9505 – and it looks to us to be worth every penny!

The judges were immediately surprised when they entered the room, even joking about whether they were in the right house.

"Wait a minute, where are we?" Darren asked.

"This is it! They've done it, this is where they need to be," he continued.

Now that's a great start!

Darren couldn't see any of the things the judges had not liked about Kylie and Brad's previous rooms.

"This is what I've been saying every single week in every single room because I could see it in my head.

"I could see just what they were trying to do plus a little shift, just a little turn, and they would be able to the nuance of timber and the darkness this house can wear.

"It feels soft and light and bright, yesssss," he celebrated.

Shaynna was impressed by how well everything connected, right down to "tiny flecks" of black in the floor rug, which matched the black ceiling fan and black wardrobe.

"[It's] a little bit industrial, but it's earthy because of the natural timbers," she said.

Marty called it an incredibly marketable room.

"You are now building a very appealing house," Scotty recited.

Marty put himself in the position of their agent putting together a gallery of images from the house – and imagined it would come together nicely.

"Even from the rooms that we've seen, when the agent puts the gallery of photos together, we've seen some rooms that were a bit stark and they're starting to really soften up.

"If they play from bedroom to bathroom to bedroom to bathroom and the bedrooms are softening that entire palette throughout the entire gallery, that will engage the buyers extremely well."

He also pointed out that so far, Kylie and Brad have created a space that can sleep seven – the most of any house so far.

"These homes are used for holidays, families getting together, Airbnbs... they're one person ahead of the pack.

"If you've got that in a holiday home, you get the highest rent, you get the highest bookage and you really build an amazing investment opportunity."
