Josh Packham rose to fame looking for romance on Love Island Australia Season 2, before trying his renovation skills alongside twin brother Josh Packham on The Block in 2021.

Now the reality star has made the switch from contestant to TV presenter as one of three hosts of the new lifestyle series Australia's Best Pools.

Australia's Best Pools airs Saturdays at 4.30pm on 9Life.

The hosting gig came about as a direct result of Josh's time on The Block after he struck up a friendship with Block royalty and pool designer Dave Franklin.

Dave, who is also a host on Australia's Best Pools, called Josh to offer him one of the hosting roles.

Since then Josh, Dave and their co-host Jessie Roberts have been all over Australia looking at some of the country's most stunning pools, as well as pools that also fit in with smaller budgets.

Josh's role on the show is the kind of job people dream about, getting to swim in beautiful pools for a living to test them out and share his thoughts on them for the show.

"That was pretty much my role at every pool and I like doing that. I'm always one of those people [who thinks] you have to jump in [if you're] going to a beach or a pool, so I was more than willing to do it," he told 9Entertainment.

Being a TV host was a refreshing experience for Josh after having cameras capturing his every move on The Block, because if you're not happy with what you've filmed you can always do another take.

"With reality TV you don't have control of what goes to air," he said.

"Sometimes you can get a camera following you around and you get sprung saying naughty things and it ends up on TV and can be quite embarrassing, whereas the host you have more control."

Apart from hosting Australia's Best Pools, Josh has been busy growing the synthetic grass business he shares with Luke.

The pair actually used a large chunk of the $530,000 profit they made on the sale of their Block house to expand the distribution side of the business. Eventually they hope to expand into Queensland and Victoria, and hope to one day see their product on The Block.

And if their grass did make it onto The Block, the pair would be keen to make an appearance on the show.

"Yeah we might have to make a return. I don't know if The Block would want to see Luke and I on there again after the chaos we created," Josh said referencing the infamous photo cheating scandal. "But we'd love to return and maybe help out another couple achieve their backyard and front yard goals."

As for the rest of Josh and Luke's Block prize money, the pair are putting it towards a trip to Europe as a bit of a reward for their hard work. The twins are heading to Santorini and Mykonos for a wedding, and then Josh will travel for a few weeks on his own while Luke travels with his family.

Speaking of family, Josh has recently become an uncle for the third time after Luke and his fiancée Olivia welcomed a baby girl named Mia about four months ago.

Josh was already an uncle to his older sister's two children, but said it's surreal that it's Luke who is now a parent.

"I've spent a lot more time with my brother than any other person on the planet, so it's super weird seeing this baby and being like, 'This is Luke's baby'," Josh explained.

"But it's really nice, he's a great dad and basically we don't really see him anymore, he just works and he's happy being a full-time dad. So little Mia is definitely the love of his life, always spending time with her, he loves being a dad."

Now that Australia's Best Pools is airing Josh is open to more TV presenting roles, while focusing on his and Luke's synthetic grass business.

In his down time, Josh is also tuning in to the latest season of The Block, which has gone country and headed to regional Victoria for a tree change.

Josh admits he and Luke would've struggled to interpret the country style brief if they were renovating a house on the show this year, but they still would've given it their all.

"I don't think Luke and I would do well in the country. We don't really have a style, we just winged it the whole time [we were on the show]. We definitely like a modern take for the homes so with country style we wouldn't be doing too good, we'd be getting 4s and 5s from the judges," he said.

"Obviously you put your heart and soul into The Block when you do it so you'd do a lot of research – I definitely would if I was a contestant this year."
