Scotty Cam has reflected on an extraordinary rollercoaster grand finale of The Block, filled with highs and lows, a new record-breaking win and plenty of disappointment.

Speaking on The Block: Official Podcast after the auctions, Scott described it as a finale like no other to cap off the end of the tree change season of the show.

Omar and Oz made Block history, netting a $1.6 million profit for their Gisborne home, while Ankur and Sharon, Dylan and Jenny's houses failed to sell.

"It was a tough day at the office for some, some were excited, some were disappointed, some were in tears, a really up and down day," Scott explained.

"I don't think this compares to any other year, this has been a unique year in itself, and it probably is a reflection in part of the market, but not all.

"The farm side of things is not a reflection of the auction, it's more about the market and what's happening.

"We also had some huge successes today and we had a couple of not so much."

"It's so unique that we had these huge successes and these huge lows on the same day, it's been really tough at times, and then it's been ecstatic at others," he said.

"It's a competition that has no guarantees and it's reality, and it's what mums and dads are going through every weekend, mums and dads might be selling their house and they don't get what they want."

But he said while it's unfortunate that some of the contestants leave empty-handed for now, and others leave with less than what they wanted, there are no guarantees.

"When they started The Block, interest rates were going up from day one," he said.

"So it's unfortunate but that's what The Block is all about, it's no guarantees."
