He was motivated to be the best version of himself for his parents, who envisioned so much for him when they moved their family from Croatia when Filip was a baby.

Groom Filip was dapper in a classic black tuxedo from Calibre.
He matched the venue's bold floral arrangements with a fuchsia flower on his jacket.
"I've lived the life that I have and it's led to me being single, but I'm done with that party-type lifestyle, with situationships," he said.
"I'm totally prepared to fall in love and find the missing piece."
Stella was the picture of elegance in an Art Deco-inspired halter neck gown and sparkly headband.
As she prepared to meet her husband, she hoped he and his family would accept her as their own.
"There is a saying 'start with an end in mind' and my dream outcome would be we are the love story," she said.
Based on that smile, it certainly could be a love story in the making!
Both Stella and Filip had a great first impression of their match.
"I'm rapt," Filip laughed.
While Stella's bridesmaid Leila interrogated Filip about his star sign, Filip's mates also had an important question.
Is Stella an early riser?
She was – and that was music to Filip's ears.
They were already looking forward to setting a joint 4.30am alarm!
Stella had not even said a word of her vows before she got teary – but Filip held her hand through it.
"When people asked how long I plan to stay in Australia, I said for the rest of my life. I doubted, I struggled. I was ready to quit many times, but I stayed. I learned resilience, independence, how to lead fiercely and stand on my own two feet," Stella said.
"Today, I live a simple, beautiful life I built out of grit, heart, and persistence," she continued.
"Living in Australia taught me a few things. Starting over doesn't mean losing your roots, it means growing new ones, stronger, deeper, wider."
The vows impressed Filip – and his parents, who themselves had moved across the world almost 40 years ago.
Filip revealing his Croatian background in his vows was enough to set Stella's tears off again.
"It's something that I admire about my parents, to leave their hometown, their family, their friends, starting over to give us kids a better life," he said.
Stella could definitely relate!
However, there was one part of his vows that had Stella's friends concerned.
"I'm a carpenter, but I'm also an online health coach, a YouTuber," he said.
Following that, Stella's friends Joe and Leila started waving red flags.
Filip wasn't able to redeem himself during the ceremony, rejecting a traditional Lithuanian wedding ritual because he has been sober for two years.
Leila let her concerns be known, but Filip felt like he was being misjudged.
"I'm going to stop you just for a second," Leila said. "You're irritated, it's okay".
