Exclusive: MAFS' Carina and Paul reveal where their relationship stands after the Reunion Commitment Ceremony

EXCLUSIVE: It was an emotional time for Carina and Paul as they rewatched their Married At First Sight journey at the Reunion Commitment Ceremony on Monday.

And in an exclusive interview with 9Entertainment taken days after Reunion was filmed, the duo reflected on what happened and revealed if there was a chance they could reunite in future.

Paul described having to watch his and Carina's entire relationship back as "extremely overwhelming" and "confronting".

But perhaps even more confronting than that was the wake-up call Paul got from relationship expert John Aiken.

Carina and Paul's relationship was plagued by problems mostly due to Paul's mistakes, with the last straw being going on a date with another woman.

But rather than take accountability, Paul tried to share some of the blame with Carina and pointed the finger at her for also making mistakes.

Expert John wasn't having a bar of it.

"I've had enough. You have to stop playing the victim," John told Paul.

For Carina this only validated her experience and while Paul didn't love being called out in the moment, he eventually realised the expert was right.

"I do agree with everything John said. I do have to face reality. I have made some big mistakes," Paul told 9Entertainment.

"There was never any malicious intentions behind any of the actions so we live, we learn."

While the couple officially split at an emotional Final Vows, they were still bonded by their unique experience.

"I still do have a lot of affection for Carina. I still like her as a person, I think she is a beautiful person. We are amicable. We don't dislike each other," Paul said.

While Paul still has questions around their compatibility he said, "there's hope, never say never".

And it seems Carina is also not entirely shutting the door on Paul.

"Who knows in the next couple of months maybe we rekindle. Maybe he'll have a wake up call and realise he can't live without me," she said.
