Love Island Australia's Tayla Damir engaged to AFL star Nathan Broad

Tayla Damir is engaged!

The Love Island Australia Season 1 star announced the happy news on Instagram that her boyfriend, AFL star Nathan Broad, had proposed.

"My forever," she wrote with a diamond emoji. The proposal took place this morning.

The moment Nathan dropped on one knee was captured by a security camera hanging over their porch. Tayla also shared a selfie with Nathan and their dog which also shows off her sparkly new ring.

Nathan's Instagram post about the proposal provided more context for his original plans.

"Covid ruined the first plan but it was never going to stop me from proposing to my best friend. Knew these cameras would come in handy one day," he wrote. "Love you forever Tay."

"Awww congratulations 😍," Sophie Monk commented on Tayla's post.

"Wait. Whaaaaaaaaat. OMG! Didn't see that coming at the start of the video. 😂 Congrats hunny. Beautiful news. So happy for you 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕," wrote Bec Judd.

Martha Kalifatidis from Celebrity Apprentice Australia also offered her congrats, writing, "Omg perfect! Congratulations you two 👏."

Tayla and Nathan, who plays for the Richmond Tigers, went public with their relationship on December 31, 2019.

They share plenty of cute moments on social media and are proud parents to an adorable dog.

In 2020 Tayla spent time with Nathan in the AFL hub on the Gold Coast during the pandemic.

"I was in the second hub that went over. For us it was a really grateful hub in a way because that's when Melbourne had just announced stage-four lockdown," she said on KIIS FM's 3pm Pick-Up radio show.

"A lot of us were just sitting there and realising how grateful we were to have been able to get out of Melbourne when we did and to have such a good support network through the AFL — we felt like one big family."

Tayla, who has over 528,000 Instagram followers, rose to fame on the first season of Love Island Australia. She was involved in a love triangle with Grant Crapp and Cassidy McGill, and went on to win the show with Grant, sharing $50,000 in prize money.

However, Tayla and Grant broke up two weeks after the show's finale as Tayla learned the rumours about Grant's 'secret girlfriend' were true.

Following that relationship, Tayla started dating fellow Islander Dom Thomas a few months after the show, but they announced their split in June 2019 in a since-deleted YouTube video.
