Grant and Tayla WIN Love Island!

Love Island Australia

Tonight, we said farewell to the show that brought us fanny flutters, willy wobbles and more bum shots than we could ever have imagined (which really caused confusion with the constant references to “having a crack”).

It’s back to earnest journeys to find love and respectful boundaries around public hook-ups and partner swapping. Or binge-watching the British series until the next series comes on air (fingers crossed, fake tan at the ready).

We kicked things off with the Islanders looking hotter than ever. They were joined by Sophie and everyone sipped non-branded champagne and celebrated just how massive their Instagram following must be.

Our final three couples – Josh and Amelia, Eden and Erin and Grant and Tayla – were joined by what had to be the most awkward dinner party guests in history. Ex-Islanders like Mark and Millie, Dom and Shelby and Mac and Teddy were there, having so far refused to get back on the plane to Australia. Plus a bunch of total randoms who were enthusiastically cheering – although not as loudly as Dom.

But first, a recap of the last day in the villa. “I have been here since day one,” reflected Tayla, as the group woke early to watch the sunrise. “I have nearly completed the entire Love Island experience.”

They all watched the sunrise and got very soppy, declaring they had already won. Well, kinda, almost, just minus $50 000.

The final couples then met the parents of their new partners – via Skype. Erin cried when she saw her dog. She thought Eden’s mum was a MILF. Everyone’s parents were proud of them and approve of their new romances. Turns out Tayla’s parents weren’t pissed off at Grant after all, possibly because he is “100 percent trustable.”

Tayla responded in equally smooshy terms. “My special bloke,” she began. “We haven’t had a smooth sailing love story, but I can honestly say I wouldn’t change any of it. … I love you Grant and can’t wait to start a very non-Crapp future with you.”

Josh and Amelia were up next, with Josh delivering one of his trademark poems. “Every day spent with you feels like I’m floating on a dove,” he read. “I’m standing here right now telling you I can genuinely see us falling in love.” Amelia admitted she had manifested him – no word on whether a vision board was involved.

“Tonight, you’re all winners,” she continued. “Except for the loser.”

“The winners of Love Island Australia 2018 are Grant and Tayla.”

The pair were completely shocked – and Millie was possibly more excited than both of them combined. “I love you so much,” Tayla laughed as Erin and Eden offered up a highly disappointed round of applause.

“Congratulations,” Eden said, as he and Erin hugged Tayla. Grant hung back initially, before Erin and Eden hugged him awkwardly. Safe to say there is literally no love lost there.

Sophie assured Erin and Eden they were hugely popular as they agreed they were leaving as winners. Well, kinda. Eden explained he was happy to leave with Erin and two new best mates, Dom and Josh. “I’ll marry this girl one day,” he finished.

As Grant and Tayla took centre stage, Sophie went in for a congratulatory kiss and accidentally smooched Tayla full on the lips. “I kissed Sophie Monk!” beamed Tayla.

“It doesn’t feel real!” Tayla said as Sophie reminded the pair they had just won. But things weren’t over just yet…

“It’s not where the show ends,” Sophie started. “You found romance but one massive question remains,” Sophie explained. “Were you here for the love or the money?”

“Will you split the cash, or leave your partner high and dry?”

The pair exchanged glances as Grant looked extremely stressed. Tayla and Grant each selected an envelope. “One of these envelopes contains absolutely nothing,” said Sophie. “The other contains $50 000. Whoever opens the $50 000 will face the ultimate question, love or money?”

They kissed. Confetti flew. Everyone hugged the pair they had wanted to win.

And Love island Australia was officially over. Adios and cinimod!
