'I probably got ahead of myself': Why Lochie was 'surprised' about his elimination after brutal twist sent him packing
EXCLUSIVE: After vowing to get Mat 'the Godfather' Rogers off the mountain, Lochie was completely "surprised" to find himself the one leaving following a shock elimination challenge on The Summit 2024.
A second Mountain's Keeper was revealed and each dropped a bag from their choppers. The trekkers had to run for the bags, dividing themselves into two separate teams.

It was only then that it was revealed one bag contained immunity, while the other left five trekkers facing elimination.
Lochie, a local councillor, found himself holding the 'vulnerable' bag and in the end, his strategising came back to bite him as Mat successfully rallied enough votes to have him eliminated.

In his exclusive exit video, Lochie said in hindsight he would've kept his cards closer to his chest.
"It was definitely a surprise, I thought I had the numbers to get Matty out... I probably got ahead of myself and should've factored in a few more variables," he said.
While he still believed "Matty should've gone home" instead of him, Lochie said he had a lot of respect for Mat.
"The beautiful thing is that we're both extremely competitive, we've played in group sport settings and it had to be one of us. Unfortunately, it was me."

He said the most challenging thing about The Summit for him was hiding how helpful he was being to other trekkers "because you can be seen as a threat".
"Things that get you through your own life out on the outside, you hide them in this game," he shared.
Lochie also revealed that while he'd love for Charlotte to win, but wouldn't be surprised if one other cunning player was left standing at the top of the mountain.
"She's played a quiet game but been very strategic behind-the-scenes," he said.
