The final score was 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-7, 7-5.

Naomi Osaka is into the second round.

She did it the hard way, losing the second set but managed to overcome Caroline Garcia in the end.

It was Garcia who beat her last year in the Australian Open.

Osaka finished with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory tonight.

The Aussie is starting to show signs that the fifth set could be getting to him.

Tommy Paul managed to hold on his serve to lead 5-4 in the fifth set.

O'Connell then pulled up very ginger.

"I think he's in some trouble with cramping," Dave Taylor said on Nine.

Australian Chris O'Connell has forced a fifth set against Tommy Paul!

Paul, who is seeded 12th, couldn't defeat O'Connell in the fourth-set tiebreaker and now we're off to a decider.

Paul took the first set 6-2 before O'Connell won the second 6-3.

The American hit back in the third to win 6-1. But it was O'Connell winning the tiebreaker 7-5.

O'Connell is ranked 70th in the world.

Nick Kyrgios' Australian Open comeback is over and he had a shock admission post-match, declaring "realistically I can't see myself probably playing singles again here".

Destanee Aiava has done it!

She's into the second round after a 5-7, 7-5, 7-6.

The crowd is in raptures.

She dropped her racquet on to the ground and put her hands in the air on Court 3.

How good! That's the Aussies first time she's reached the second round in a grand slam.

Because there's another Aussie in action.

24-year-old Destanee Aiava is up against Greet Minnen.

Minnen won the first set 7-5 while Aiava took the second out with the same score.

It's currently 3-3 in the third.

Well, it looked like a boilover could be on the cards early but Novak Djokovic has survived.

He finished it was an ace and Nishesh Basavareddy looked like a big fan going up and congratulating him.

Djokovic wasn't happy with someone in his box after his ace landed.

But anyway he's won. Final score is 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.

Djokovic now on track as he aims to win his 100th career title.

Nishesh Basavareddy is just in this fourth set against Novak Djokovic.

He claimed a second game in this set, but is still down 5-2.
