‘I’d heard bad stories about San Francisco. This trip totally changed my mind’
When travelling to the San Francisco Bay Area, I was initially apprehensive. But my stay in Berkeley quelled any doubts.
Experience
Lachlan started his career in regional New South Wales, spending two years in Kempsey at the Macleay Argus. He then moved to Orange and worked at the Central Western Daily for a year before joining Wide World of Sports in April 2023.
Since joining WWOS, Lachlan has covered the 2025/26 Ashes series, interviewed the likes of Pedro Porro, Nuno Espirito Santo and Michael Owen.
One of Lachlan’s favourite stories since joining WWOS was re-living Darby Lancaster’s Wallabies debut.
Education
Lachlan grew up in Dubbo and went to school at St John’s College before completing a Bachelor of Communication/Sports Studies (Sports Journalism) at CSU Bathurst. He graduated from university in 2019.
Awards and Recognition
Lachlan was recognised internally at Australian Community Media for best non-daily sports story of the year for his coverage on Burnt Bridge raised boxer Dave Sands and his family’s quest to receive a replica Empire Title belt from the Commonwealth Boxing Council. This story eventually ended at NSW parliament house when NSW minister for sport, Stuart Ayres, gave the family the belt.
