Bienne Terita has capped a ruthless Aussie performance as the speedster is unleashed out wide to score a long range try for a 40-7 quarter-final flogging.

Australia are through to a semi-final against Canada at midnight tonight (AEST).

"It couldn't have been any more impressive," Sean Maloney says on Nine.

New Zealand will play the USA in the first semi at 11.30pm AEST.

Bella Nasser adds to the Aussie onslaught with a second half try.

Nasser is the daughter of former Wallaby Brendan and the sister of current Wallaby Josh.

Australia lead 33-0 with less than five minutes to play.

Some statement this.

HALFTIME: Australia 26, Ireland 0

This shaped as a competitive game but Maddi Levi has completely blown Ireland off the park with a first half hat trick.

Faith Nathan then scored a try herself.

Australia lead 26-0 at halftime and have one foot in the semis against Canada.

"They're (Ireland) no chance. This is done. We can enjoy this as Aussie fans," Sean Maloney says on Nine.

Levi smashes Olympic record

Maddi Levi is just ridiculous.

The sevens superstar has just broken the Olympic record for most tries in a tournament - and we're only in the quarter-finals.

That's her 11th after a nice assist from Faith Nathan and Australia lead 19-0 just before halftime.

"She is a freak," Sean Maloney says on Nine.

The Levi act does it again!

Sam Worthington

It's not an action replay but Maddi Levi has scored another try and sister Teagan has delivered another assist.

Australia were forced to work overtime in defence there but captain Charlotte Caslick stood tall to win a crucial turnover.

The Aussies lead 12-0 in the first half.

Levi sisters carve up Ireland

Sam Worthington

The Levi sisters have carved up Ireland for Australia's opening try.

Maddi Levi wins the turnover, dishes to Teagan who then returns the favour for Maddi to score her ninth try of the tournament.

Australia lead 5-0 early.

Australia take on Ireland in sevens quarter-final

Sam Worthington

From the pool to Stade de France we go as Australia take on Ireland in the women's sevens quarter-final.

Weirdly, these two teams have already played today, with the Aussies winning 19-14 in pool play.

The winner will meet Canada in the semis.

O'Callaghan says she 'did it for the country'

Sam Worthington

Super impressive all around performance from Mollie O'Callaghan, who publicly acknowledges her struggles with performance anxiety.

They were healthy nerves today as she wins gold ahead of one of the all-time great freestyle swimmers.

"You've got to accept the challenge at the end of the day," O'Callaghan tells Nine.

"You can either run or... fight. I chose to fight. I'm always striving for more and I always put a lot of pressure on myself. My expectations are very high. That was an amazing race. I'm always wanting that little bit more.

"I just had to go with (coach) Dean (Boxall) and trust him knowing what to do and what's best. To be honest, I did it for the country, I didn't do it for myself. I'm racing for all these people. I just had to put it behind me. Less pressure now, I get to swim freely."
