'Stuff you': Toby Greene's cheeky message to former GWS players after Finn Callaghan rejects monster offer

GWS captain Toby Greene had a cheeky message to those who have left the club for big money offers after Finn Callaghan's decision to say and reject big money offers.

Callaghan has re-signed with the Giants on a four-year deal, subsequently snubbing St Kilda's reported $17 million 10-year offer, according to 9news Melbourne's Tom Morris.

The contract would've made Callaghan the highest paid player in the AFL.

Callaghan's decision is a vote of confidence in the future direction of the Giants after a devastating semi final loss to the Lions last season.

The Giants have previously lost some big names over time, namely Jeremy Cameron, Adam Treloar, Jack Steele and others.

Greene showed he hasn't forgotten those previous departures.

"It shows a bit about his character really, there's a few boys who have done the opposite to that over the years so he said stuff you to them," he laughed when talking to 9news Melbourne.

"It's amazing, it shows his loyalty, shows he's got a strong belief in the club."

While not willing to go into detail around rival offers, Callaghan explained he had to do his "due diligence" when considering his future.

"To be honest I always wanted to stay at the club," he told 2GB's Wide World of Sports Radio.

"I won't go into details but there was a few decent contracts put forward and I had to think about the decision thoroughly, I really wanted to do my due diligence and make sure it was the right decision.

"But from chatting to my family, those closest around me, my heart was set on the Giants the whole time and I'm just happy we could reach an agreement pretty quickly with the club and get it all sorted."

Callaghan added the drive from last season's disappointing straight-sets finals departure has inspired a determination at Giants training.

"It was a really frustrating way to end, there's certainly been a lot of motivation at training over the off season," he said.

"I've had the game in my head every day, trying to get better so in those moments again we can execute and win the game. I have no doubt we'll be back in finals."
