Wests Tigers centre Justin Olam on verge of medical retirement due to knee injury

Wests Tigers centre Justin Olam is on the verge of medical retirement.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the 31-year-old has been dealing with a knee injury that required surgery in the off-season.
Olam has struggled to return to training and the club will discuss the Papua New Guinea international's future with his management this week.

The former Storm wrecking ball managed just 13 appearances in his first season with the joint venture, as the Tigers finished with the wooden spoon for a third-straight year.

Once regarded among the game's elite centres, Olam fell out of favour at Melbourne after featuring in their 2020 grand final team, before making the move to Concord.
Olam has scored 52 tries in 117 first grade appearances since making his debut in 2018.
He didn't feature in either of the side's pre-season trial fixtures, with the likes of Starford To'a and Adam Doueihi spending time in the centres.
Brent Naden also played out wide for the Tigers, but went down with a knee injury in their clash with Parramatta and could be set for a lengthy stint on the sidelines.
