McDonald’s is bringing back its Cheesy Range from August 19, just weeks after fast food rival KFC packed up its mozzarella sticks, having run a similarly delicious cheese-filled menu line up.
For its part, Macca’s is bringing back its Cheesy Quarter Pounder, Double Quarter Pounder and Cheesy McCrispy, along with Mozzarella Sticks with Tomato Chilli Jam.

Each burger features the addition of “melted cheese” alongside the usual ingredients. Quarter Pounder fans can still enjoy 100 per cent beef patties, and McCrispy lovers will have their melted cheese alongside their Aussie chicken breast.
The last time the Cheesy Range was sold at McDonald’s was in 2023.
KFC’s recently-featured cheesy menu items including a Parmi Burger range and mozzarella sticks, which were sold until July 6.
This wasn’t without its controversy, with Victorian fast food lovers insisting ‘parma’ is the correct abbreviation for a chicken parmigiana, rather than ‘parmi’, which was used by KFC this time around.
“We know Aussies absolutely loved the Cheesy range when it was last on the menu, so we’re excited to be bringing it back and making it even better with the introduction of the new Cheesy Double Quarter Pounder and Cheesy McCrispy,” Tobi Fukushima, Marketing Directorof McDonald’s Australia said.
“From the golden cheesy patty and melted cheese to our 100 per cent Aussie beef and 100 per cent Aussie chicken, every item in the range is packed with crave worthy flavour and quality ingredients.
“Whether you’re revisiting an old favourite or trying one of the new burgers for the first time, the Cheesy range is the ultimate comfort food for cheese lovers.”

McDonald’s and KFC are pulling out all the stops in their ongoing battle for dominance in Australia’s increasingly crowded fast food space.
Just this year, KFC announced plans to rival the iconic Macca’s Breakfast menu by rolling out its Morning Meals menu, which had previously been trialled at Sydney Airport.
“Following the finger lickin’ good response from our Sydney Airport Morning Meals trial, KFC is continuing to work with our franchise partners to bring Morning Meals to more restaurants across the country, giving more fans the chance to start their day the KFC way,” a KFC spokesperson told nine.com.au.
“Keep your eyes peeled for where Morning Meals might pop up next, because Aussies know there’s no wrong time to go full chicken with KFC.”
Then there’s McDonald’s and KFC’s recent drinks expansion.
Macca’s introduced 10 new drinks via its line up, including Refreshers, Crafted Sodas, Energisers and an array of Iced and Cold Coffees. This has been their most significant change to its menu in 30 years.
KFC countered with Kwench, a trial range featuring 10 custom drinks spanning Sparkling Lemonades, Boba Refreshers, Krunch Shakes and Frozen Spiders, which are currently being trialled in select markets.

McDonald’s attracted some criticism for its range due to the inclusion of the energy drink Red Bull in two of its new refreshers.
McDonald’s and KFC have also battled it out in the dessert stakes, with Macca’s launching a Loaded Cookie – featuring a warm chocolate chip cookie with vanilla soft serve – and KFC returning serve with a warm chocolate lava cake.
