Aldi was recently found to be the most affordable supermarket in a recent cost comparison by Choice.

The consumer group assessed the price of eight products at Aldi, Coles, Woolworths and IGA this quarter, and the results showed just a $1.22 different between the cheapest supermarket and the one that came in second place.

The supermarket with the lowest prices is, once again, Aldi – but by only the thinnest of margins.

The eight items in the basket for the comparison were cream cheese, thickened cream, puff pastry, frozen mixed berries, tomato paste, spaghetti, tomato sauce and soy milk.

Aldi came in cheapest, with all items available for $20.08.
